My girlfriend is suddenly having severe mid and lower back pain. More so on the left side. What could it be?

Multiple reasons: Pain could be from an ovarian cyst. Where you recently sexually active?, pain could be from painful intercourse as a result of friction or trauma. Was she lifting anything or doing anything that would create pressure on the back? Pain could be from a strained muscle to a herniated disc. Now its a kidney inf: Ection.Chronic kidney infections can cause serious kidney damage. Follow up quick with your md to make sure this is not happening. Kidney pain is usually on either side of the spine about a hand width from center and beneath the lower ribs. The problem also is you've had antibiotics that don't seem to have worked. Could be disc: If the upper-mid pain you have is in the upper mid back, worse when you move cough, bend or rotate the spine in that area, it may be a disc in the thoracic spine part of your back, a strain or sprained muscle. I'm not sure that it would be typical of a nerve problem (meaning a nerve disease), but we do feel pain because of our nerves, indicated a problem in that area. ...Read more

Depends on who jump-: -ed. Have 2 take a lot in determining the force,velocity,weigh & from what height. A child or adult. May B just a muscle strain still. Steroid make everything better. If no leg pain or no severe, try NSAIDS if able. Doesn't sound normal: A surgical abortion doesn't normally cause upper back and right shoulder pain. This type of pain after surgery is sometimes from something irritating the the diaphragm under the lungs. When the diaphragm is irritated, it refers its pain to the right shoulder. Back Pain: Very common condition due to improper position and chronic strain. Will not go away immediately and slowly start stretching the back with yoga exercises- gentle stretch, avoid soft chair and bed, keep a good posture at all times, ice and get gentle massage when in pain.
