Acupuncture w e-stim: Ensure that your injury has been properly worked up (ie. Orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, neurosurgeon). Nerve Damage (Definition)

A partial nerve injury may leave the area tingly or incompletely numb. Finally even if the nerve is not cut the swelling and bruising to the tea can affect the nerve as well. Usually we consider sharp penetrating injuries as likely having nerve lacerations when sensation is lost. A hand surgeon can examine the hand and pinpoint the site or extent of nerve injury and recommend ...Read more

Can neurophathy emg test in lower back tell you if you have upper body or hand nerve damage as well?

Can neurophathy emg test in lower back tell you if you have upper body or hand nerve damage as well?

No: Emg of muscles in your low back and legs looks only at the lumbar roots, while nerve conduction studies (ncs) check nerves in your legs & feet. To check the cervical nerve roots in your neck you would need EMG of the muscles in your arms and hands, and possibly muscles in your neck. To check nerves in your arms and hands (carpal tunnel), you would need ncs of the arms and hands.

What could cause me to get nerve damage in several areas in my back and neck. Got in neck affecting left arm and lower back affecting right leg?

Back: The most common cause is a disk or back injury at your age. Other less common problems for a women your age include syringomyelia, inherited disk diseases, infections, scoliosis, and certain types of arthritis (especially a group called seronegative spondyloarthropathies). Best bet is to see your family doc or a rheumatologist to get it checked out.

Seven weeks ago doctor said I have a herniated disc in lower back. And sciatic nerve damage. I did theropy and it hurts worse now. No improvement?

Radiculopathy: Most herniated disks will get better on their own, however if the symptoms worsen after conservative treatment then other methods should be investigated. Surgery is an option when weakness, pain and sensory loss all correlate to the location of the disk herniation. Usually physical therapy, steroid injections and other methods are employed first. Seven weeks is not a long time. But try another way.

Does chronic nerve damage of lower lumbar cause back pain?

Different types of p: It is not uncommon for someone with a back injury to have nerve pain. Nerve pain can be experienced as radiating pain away from the spine and into the buttocks, hip or leg. You can have back pain that is not specifically related to a nerve injury. You would need to be evaluated by a physician to better determine the nature and cause of your pain. This will help determine the best treatment.

What is the question: We don't know what your question is.Methadone and Xanax is not a treatment most doctors prescribe these days for low back pain due to any cause. You need to see a pain management specialist and may need to be weaned of Methadone and Xanax both highly habit forming drugs. And you will need the appropriate treatment including physical Therapy and other modalities as indicated
