Belly Pain (Definition)

Belly pain is also known as Abdominal pain. Abdominal pain is pain that you feel anywhere between your chest and groin. This is often referred to as the stomach region or belly. Almost everyone experiences pain in the abdomen at one time or another. Most of the time, it is not caused by a serious medical problem. There are many organs in the abdomen. Pain in the abdomen can originate from any one of them, including: Organs related to digestion -- the end of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas The aorta -- a large blood vessel that runs straight down the inside of the abdomen The appendix -- an organ in the lower right abdomen that no longer serves much function The kidneys -- two bean-shaped organs that lie deep within the abdominal cavity The spleen -- an organ involved in blood maintenance and infection control However, the pain may start from somewhere else -- like your chest or pelvic area. You may also have a generalized infection, such as the flu or strep throat, that affects many parts of your body. The intensity of the pain does not always reflect the seriousness of the condition causing the pain. I am having lower abdominal pain and back pain along with pains in my groin area I am 34 weeks preg. What should I do is this normal

Even : Even though some pain can be normal from the stretching of the uterine ligaments, some pains can be more concerning such as early labor, blood clot, or a problem with the pregnancy. The safest thing to do is to call your ob/gyn. Let them know exactly what you are feeling and they will be able to guide you as to whether they can see you in the office or whether you should go to the er. If you have any vaginal bleeding or fluid leakage, go to the er. Good luck! ...Read more

Lower abdominal pain, lower back pain, fatigue, scheduled coposcopy for Friday morning, history of female issues. Extreme pain! What to do?

Low abdominal pain: Is this pain new or different from your previous pain experience? If it is, I would recommend seeing a physician as soon as possible. A few days is a long time to experience pain without relief. Also, if there is fever, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea and/or blood in the stool, I would recommend more urgent evaluation, such as in an ER type setting. Hope this helps! Feel better soon and best wishes! ...Read more
