I have lower abdominal pain on my left side only that is worse when lying down. Other than a kidney stone, could it be something else? No other symp

The er dr just told me may have colitis. Is it contagious. Symptoms were lower abdominal pain cramps when standing fever and loose watery stool. When laying down very little pain.

As a general rule of thumb, any pain in the abdominal area that is significant and lasts more than four hours should be evaluated in an emergency room setting.
