Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, an inherited condition found in about 20% women, magnifies this phenomenon. ...Read more

The only way to tell whether you are pregnant or not is to take a pregnancy test, so I'm glad you are seeing your doctor.
As doctors, the first thing we do when we hear a woman is having pregnancy symptoms, a light or missed period or abnormal spotting, we check a pregnancy test. You can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period. A blood test can tell if you are pregnant as soon as 7 days after conception and a doctor's urine pregnancy test can tell if you are pregnant around when you next period should come.
There are other reasons besides pregnancy that can cause a woman to have symptoms or miss a period such as: stress, diet, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as with a thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. If you have an irregular cycle, you should give your doctor or your ob/gyne a call. Good luck! ...Read more

I have severe lower abdominal pain with hardness feeling an tender lymphnodes. I just finished my menstrual 4 days ago. What could be causing this?
I'm 24 days late and had a pinkish blood yesterday when I wiped. Other than that no bleeding and negative HPTs. Now I'm having lower abdominal pain.
If you did the test correctly and it was negative at 24 days after a missed period, you are not likely to be pregnant. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.
