See your GYN: A period lasting 4 weeks is certainly abnormal. At age 42 you could be starting into perimenopause which can cause abnormal menses. It is also possible that you have a fibroid (benign tumor) in the uterus causing the problem. Either way, you need to have some blood work and a pelvic ultrasound done. ...Read more
