Low Wbc Blood
Cbc performed-everything normal except low wbc. Blood smear- normal. Told to come bck in 2mths & redraw. Should i be worried? Wht could cause this?
Probably normal: If you are not at risk for hiv, then you may represent the low end of the bell curve that makes up the "normal" range for wbc. Some people have immune function issues with chronically low counts, others just "rest at low idle" and still ramp up when fighting an infection. Worried about low WBC in prev blood work w physicals.
IN 2016 WBC was 4.1 (range 4.8-10.8) and MCHC was 32.5 (33-37 range). All other CBC was ok.
ALSO, in 2015, WBC was 4.5. In 2014 it was 5.3. In 2013/2012 it was 4.8.
Should I worry ab cancer??
Likelihood of cancer: The likelihood of a slightly low WBC count being caused by cancer is very low. The "normal ranges" account for approximately 95% of normal individuals. 2.5% of normal people have lower WBC counts and 2.5% have higher counts. Many things can lower WBC counts, to include viral infection, certain medications, and other illnesses. Bottom line, these "low" counts may be normal for you. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
Does high monocytes and low amount of WBC in blood test indicate infection? and what does high amorphous sediment in urine test mean?
These mean nothing: Only a very high absolutely monocyte count is of any concern if you feel well, and low WBC is of concern if and only if lymphs or neuts are way-way low. If you're sick, this whispers "rule out typhoid". Amorphous sediment is simply stuff that was soluble at body temperature but crystallized as the urine cooled. It means nothing at all. ...Read more
Pain in my left abdomen near bottom ribs & low back. blood & WBC in urine, no pain with urination. CT scan normal. Thirst, nausea, malaise. stopped taking topamax (topiramate) when the pain started. What's wrong?
When should I be concerned about low wbc? I've had my blood tested every 3 months for the past 9 months and every time it's low. Next step?
Give us the actual r: Unless you give us the actual reports with numbers, it is hard to address your question. There is a wide range of WBC over which it can be normal. More importantly, we need to know the differential counts so that we can see the % neutrophils and total neutrophils(anc), the latter being the most critical number which would guide any future interventions for diagnosis and treatment, if necessary. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

There's no need for you to obsess over labs like this. Relax, and be thankful for good health. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
