Lab error?: Possible to have vit d deficiency or hyperparathyroid. Other causes are usually pretty obvious and still others are very rare. I would repeat lab test first. ...Read more
If you have low c3c and low phosphate levels but all other labs normal does that mean you probably have glomernephritis?
Not likely.: Glomerulonephritis has many causes and has signs of renal failure, like hematuria and proteinuria, and oliguria. These are blood and protein in the urine, and low urine output respectively. Salt and water are retained, and red blood cell casts on urinalysis confirms diagnosis. Your decreased c3c might point to lupus which can have renal involvement, so get checked, but kidneys seem ok for now. ...Read more
I am really scared I am going to drop dead due to low phosphate levels last year was 2.4 this year 1.7 no dr mentioned it until I said something bloodwork normal except that and c3c if my kidney failing?
Not Likely: Having a low phosphate level can be a sign of low vitamin d needed for absorption and or magnesium you might want to check those. Also you might want to look at your diet and see if it is low in phosphorus - alcohol use can cause you to lose phosphorus. Kidney dysfunction may also be a cause but i'm not sure that is the case with you. Symptoms of low phosphate will not occur until you get to 1.0. ...Read more
No: Often c3 complement levels are a nonspecific marker of other possible problems like infection or autoimmune inflammation or lupus perhaps. But if you have normal kidney function otherwise that may not be the case. You might need to have your kidney function looked at more closely to be sure of this with other tests first. ...Read more
Only: ANA positivity and low complement c3 only help confirm a diagnosis of an autoimmune disease such as lupus. However, no diagnosis is possible by these tests alone without signs and symptoms of a connective tissue disease. Sometimes these laboratory abnormalities run in families especially if someone in he family has a connective tissue disease. ...Read more

I had a spot on adrenal gland, blood work results were high aspartate aminotransferase level, low phosphate level and high platelet mean volume. help.
Test results: You are analyzing your test results and getting panicky. Relax. Talk to your doctor, who is in the best position to connect the dots. A "spot" on the adrenal may be nothing and the other test results may not be significant either. Test results need to be interpreted in the context of your symptoms and physical exam, and how much outside the normal range. ...Read more
After total thyroidectomy, i131, and yrs in bipolar Meds...low ALT results and extremely low alkaline phosphate, which has been low for 4 yrs. ????
What causes low serum phosphate other than parathyroidism? PTH & calcium are constantly normal. Normal D vitamin because of high dose supplements.
Low phos: Phos metabolism is intake /shift/ losses. I am assuming you have good intake. So the other two are the reason, either shift inside the cells or losses from the kidney. How low is the phos? Your medication list shows no meds that can cause losses. A lab doesn't need to be treated, so rpt lab and then get a urine fractional excretion if still low. Talk to your MD. ...Read more
