Slow heart rate at rest, occasional skipped heart beats, sluggish, headaches, breast tenderness - is this perimenopause?
Fast/slow/none: Assessing the fetal heart is a bit problematic. Since they are isolated inside the bag of waters, we are limited to detecting rate as fast/ slow/ normal or none. Various factors can lead to various rate changes. The fetal heart is usually beating much fast ; 130-160/min are routine. Stress can speed or slow the rate. When checking newborns, I have never had one with fibrillation in 3 decades. ...Read more
After hearing fetal heart beat and heart beat is above 130 at 7wks what does miscarriage chance drop to?

Is it true that raising your heart rate over 140bpm when in early stages of pregnancy/pregnancy cause birth defects due to decreased blood to fetus?
No: That used to be a misnomer, but has since been proved false. Recent studies and statements by the american college of ob/gyn have stated that women in otherwise good health can and should get their heart rates elevated in pregnancy through moderate exercise. The key is to stay super hydrated. Exercise is great in pregnancy. ...Read more
Low blood pressure, lack of urination, no appetite, heart flutters and pounds at times, tingling in left arm, low heart rate, 4 lead EKG showed fine?
Many issues: You mention several symptoms. Some, all, or none of them may be related. With regard to heart "flutters, " "pounds, " and "low heart rate, " you should do a 30-day heart monitor so that your symptoms can be correlated to your heart rhythm. A "normal" ekg is not helpful if you were not having symptoms at the moment it was taken. Other symptoms can be investigated after heart is sorted out. ...Read more
Discuss w/ Dr.: How high? What specifics? Discuss these concerns w/ your OBGYN. I've heard that the increased risk is specifically about a small portion of the hCG called the beta subunit. If that is high, they consider it an increased risk for Down Syndrome. It's not so much a concern early in pregnancy - they usually test for this between 15-18 weeks and it's part of the quad-screening test. I hope this helps. ...Read more
Is pain in the carotid artery a sign of heart failure with frequent PVC's, faintness, fast heart rate and bloating?
Carotid artery: disease in itself has no symptoms; it causes symptoms when blood flow to the brain is decreased because of it. Perhaps you are having neck pain, near the location of the carotid artery, but I would not interpret that as a sign of heart failure or cause of PVC's. Certainly frequent PVC's might be a sign of more serious dysrhythmia causing faintness/fast heart rate. You need to continue cardiac care ...Read more
Is it nirmal to have tachycardia during pregnancy, 20 wks pregnant with twins resting hearbeats 106 if walk goes as high as 186.ecg scans are fine?
Not unusual: It may not be "normal", but it is not unusual to have a high resting heart rate during pregnancy, as the resting metabolic rate has to increase (to pump enough blood for the fetus). Also, the blood volume increases, along with total body water, & these changes place a stress on the heart which responds by pumping faster. The normal ECG is reassuring. Rest! Best of luck w/ the pregnancy, & congrats ...Read more
