What is the difference between hCG level and bata level for a 3 day IVF transfer? My numbers are 1508 hCG and my bata #is 24.19
Hormone: The pregnancy test commonly referred to as HCG is actually a measure of the beta subunit of the HCG molecule, so you may hear it referred to as beta hcg, hcg, or beta and they are the same test. I think you may be mistaken on the second test-- the result seems more consistent with a Progesterone level. ...Read more
In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology. Ivf is a procedure used to treat fertility problems and assist with the conception of a child. During ivf mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. A few days later, the fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs are implanted into the uterus. I had an IVF on last month 24th. My HCG level was 60 after 15 days. But it came down to 6.5 after a week. Now (after 3 more days) it is up by 24. Can I?
Hcgs: I know this seems confusing to you. First let me say that it is unlikely that were going to have a successful ongoing pregnancy but never say never. The best way to proceed is to continue to check your hCGs and follow them closely. I am also curious about your Progesterone levels. Possibilities include; first and most likely chemical pregnancy. Second and also possible is a tubal pregnancy. Third ...Read more
I m 41yrs, this is my 5th IVF with doner eggs & 4 frozen embryos transfer after 14 days test my hCG level is 598.95. what I should expect?
Ok: Most ivf clinics only measure HCG levels approximately 9 days after a day 5 embryo transfer. However, some clinics feel that the combination of HCG levels and Progesterone levels have a more predictive value of a good pregnancy than HCG levels alone. Personally, we only measure hcg. Hope this helps and good luck. ...Read more

I underwent an IVF and the embryo transfer was done on 22 nov. Now after first blood test on 11 nov 2012 the hCG level is 8686.83. Is it normal?
High: I assume that HCG was from 12/11/12. That is about 5-6 weeks pregnant depending on whether you had day 3 or day 5 transfer. That number could be normal but definitely suggests multiple pregnancies. Your ultrasound will show you what is happening. ...Read more

IVF 5 day transfer. Day 12 bloodwork HCG level @ 14, Day 14 bloodwork HCG decreased to 8.2. Doctor says not pregnant. Could I still be pregnant?
Not really: One BHCG level really only confirms you are pregnant. It needs to be compared to subsequent levels and in the context of your clinical situation. How far along are you or should you be? Are you having bleeding and/or cramping etc. All these play into a possible diagnosis. ...Read more

It depends: Hcg levels identify a pregnancy. Low levels may represent a very early pregnancy depending on how many days you are late for your expected period. You will have to have more tests to see if it doubles or not. If it decreases you had a chemical pregnancy. Talk with your OB about getting further tests to see if the pregnancy is normal. ...Read more
Luteal phase defect: Low Progesterone levels may be associated with a cause of recurrent miscarriage called a luteal phase defect and is treatable with first trimester progesterone. Extremely low progesterones and abnormal HCG levels may well be an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. Not everyone's HCG doubles every 2-3 days like we make them think. A 20% rise every 2-3 days may be normal and eventually you plateau. ...Read more
A week late everything has came out negative could I still be pregnant? Is it that my hCG levels are low?
It depends: The earliest way to tell if you are pregnant is with an early detection pregnant test done on your first voided urine in the morning. This can be positive even a few days before a missed period. Your doctor's exam should be able to tell if it has been more than 4 weeks since ovulation. ...Read more
On monday my hCG levels were 8300 today it was 8100 they also told me my progesterone levels were low and gave me meds. Is my baby going to be ok?
Doesn't look good: The general rule of thumb for Beta-HCG levels is that they should double every 48 hours. A normal pregnancy would have gone from 8000 on Monday to 16000 on Wednesday. This is Thursday, and it is going down - not a good sign for a viable pregnancy (sorry). Be careful, because this could be a tubal pregnancy! You may need an ultrasound to look for the baby. If you have pain, go in! Maybe miscarriage ...Read more
Hello, I ha two early miscarriages. Both happened in 5 weeks. My hCG levels were each time very low 6.5. Please help me. Why do I miscarry so early?
Blighted ovum: There are so many things that must happen just right at just the right time for us to have normal babies that it is miraculous that it happens at all. Some studies suggest that 1/2 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage and 1/2 or the time we don't even realize we are pregnant. There are a lot of things that can cause this including genetic problems. See a doctor specializing in high risk pregnancies ...Read more

No: Hcg alone cannot tell one they are going to miscarry. In early pregnancy the HCG should double every 2-3 days. If it is falling, or is not rising substantially over time, it is likely that there is a problem with the pregnancy (impending or current miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy). Once there is a visible pregnancy on ultrasound, hcgs have little value, and the ultrasound is more meaningful. ...Read more
