Please be seen: Some of that sounds like pleurisy. However, these are signs and symptoms that could suggest a serious infection including pneumonia. Follow up: Viral infections usually run it's course by 5 to 7 days. If this persists beyond five days, I would follow up with your primary care physician and get evaluated. You may have a bacterial infection instead of a viral. Remember most upper respiratory infections are viral I etiology though. May not be pneumonia: If you are an otherwsie healthy patient the liklhood that you would have recurrent infection with the sam bacteria is not lilely. More likely is that you have an ellemnt of allergies or possibly asthma that predispose to prolonged and recurrent episodes of congestion. Certainly if you feel short of breath or are coughing, a repeat visit to the doctor is in order. ...Read more
