Can extreme anxiety (working on it!) contribute to low gallbladder function? Symptoms = nausea & very minor intermittent pain upper right. No stones

Can extreme anxiety (working on it!) contribute to low gallbladder function? Symptoms = nausea & very minor intermittent pain upper right. No stones

Sure: Your med list make it seem you are modulating hormones that can have effects throughout the GI tract. I don't think there is any specific pathway, but so many factors contribute to gall bladder function. Sometimes simplifying diet (usually some version of 'no wheat, no sweet, no full milk, full milk products, or milk fed meat' is helpful. ...Read more

Gallbladder (Definition)

The gallbladder is a sac-like structure located under the right lobe of the liver. It is attached to the common bile duct via the cystic duct. The gallbladder can store bile when the bile is not needed, and can squeeze bile into the bile duct and intestine for digestion when a person eats larger ...Read more

I have been diagnosed with biliary dyskinesia - low functioning gallbladder. The doctor suggests removing my gallbladder only as a last resort. Any advice to alleviate symptoms? I am lowfat vegan now.

Biliary Dyskinesia: Cholecystectomy is rapidly becoming the treatment of choice. A meta-analysis examined five studies, with cumulative data in 274 patients showing 90% symptomatic relief with operative treatment vs. 32% symptomatic relief in nonoperative treatment arms. If you are, however, willing to try a lifestyle approach, start with this: http://www. Livestrong. Com/article/546563-gallbladder-dyskinesia-diet/. ...Read more

Is there a link between post-op ileus and (now I have a)low functioning gallbladder?

How long & severe...: Both have gone hand in hand after surgery? Joined effect of major abdominal surgery, anesthesia, medication esp. Those affecting central nerve system, & poor oral intake can slow down the need for gall bladder to function as natural physiological response. How these could be implied to individual patient? I got results from a Hida scan and my gallbladder function is 18%. I've also been having low grade fevers. Would this cause the fevers?

I got results from a Hida scan and my gallbladder function is 18%. I've also been having low grade fevers. Would this cause the fevers?

Doubtful: Low gallbladder ejection fraction is thought inve a disease called biliary dyskinesia, a functional problem with the gallbladder. This should not cause the fever. It may however prompt you to get your gallbladder removed surgically, which may help symptoms of pain, particularly if the medicine they gave you for the test reproduced the pain. This is done by a general surgeon. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Does a low functioning gallbladder get better with diet? Hida scan showed only 17% functioning what's the chances of rupturing or gettinh gangreen?

Does a low functioning gallbladder get better with diet? Hida scan showed only 17% functioning what's the chances of rupturing or gettinh gangreen?

unlikely: The good thing with seeing the gallbladder (you can't calculate an ejection fraction unless the gallbladder filled first) is that it is very good with predicting that there is not acute cholecystitis...So gangrene and rupture very unlikely at that time. However an ejection fraction of 17%, is low. This is most commonly related to a chronic disease, and indicates poor function. ...Read more

What causes night sweats with low body temp? My temp was 97.2 at midnight last night and I was covered in sweat. Gallbladder is at 9% function cause?

Night sweats: Night sweats can be caused by fever but other things can cause night sweats. In your case, you list obesity - a very common cause of night sweats is sleep apnea. Even if you are already treated, make sure the setting on CPAP are ok. Thyroid functions should be checked and meds reviewed. At your age, also perimenopausal sweats-hot flashes are on the list. ...Read more

Low functioning gallbladder causing bile reflux. What is the best treatment for this?

Low functioning gallbladder causing bile reflux. What is the best treatment for this?

Not sure..: That I understand the question. Where is the bile reflux? Do you mean reflux up the esophagus with heartburn? Bile refulx gastritis? There is no relationship between a low functioning gallbladder and esophageal reflux. See a gastroenterologist for a full evaluation. Gallbladder surgery would increase bile into the intestines and might increase bile reflux gastritis. ...Read more

I have a dry cough and feel very gaggy like I could get sick, morning is the worst time. I have acid reflux & low function gallbladder. What is thecause?

Hiatal hernia/colic: Biliary colic, hiatal hernia are possible diagnosis. The low functioning gallbladder by tech hida may be contributor to nausea. You are outpatient, so you have choice about next step in care. Is it possible to feel inflammation or referred pain in right side of chest from gallbladder? Feels heavy. No stones just low function

Gallbladder symptoms: Nerves to the gallbladder can give pain in upper abdomen, lower chest, or sometimes in the right shoulder. Mild diffuse infiltration fatty liver and low function gallbladder protein 8.4 bilirubin total 2.0 1.76 and diect 0.27 is this due to fatty liver?

Probably not: With the majority of your bilirubin being indirect, i.e. Unconjugated, you probably have gilbert's syndrome, which is the most common hereditary cause of increased bilirubin and is found in 5-10% of the population and is due to the reduced activity of the enzyme glucuronyltransferase. Bilirubin levels may increase under conditions of exertion, stress, fasting, and infections but is benign. ...Read more

I have a low functioning gallbladder can it cause weight loss? Also what are the risks of gallbladder surgery? Hida scan showed low activity

Possible: If GB function is low <20%, then it could be the cause of pain when you eat fatty foods, and some people change diet enough to loose some weight, but not too common. GB surgery done by a surgeon with a laparoscope is an outpatient procedure, most should take under an hour, go home same day. There are some serious and rare risks, please talk to your surgeon about it. ...Read more

Can a low function of a gallbladder or bilary dyskensia cause chronic pain daily. Not just after one eats? Less when I am resting. Back and abdomen

Maybe: Biliary dyskinesia is overall a poorly misunderstood entity. If there is a low, or in some cases a high gallbladder ejection fraction on the cck hida scan, pain relief may follow gallbladder removal. Also, the pain an individual feels may not be exactly what you would expect, in this case only after eating. So yes it's possible, but nobody really knows for sure. ...Read more

Is low functioning gallbladder with elevated liver enzymes of AST 77 ALT 142 contributed by a underlying disease? If so what diseases?

Is low functioning gallbladder with elevated liver enzymes of AST 77 ALT 142 contributed by a underlying disease? If so what diseases?

Liver disease: Isolated "low functioning gallbladder" without gallstones would not commonly cause elevation of ast/alt. This could indicated fatty liver condition, hepatitis exposure, medication causing liver inflammation, etc. See your doctor or a gastroenterologist for full liver evaluation. However, if you do have gallstones then that could be a cause of the blood test results. ...Read more

Separate problems: Fatty liver, a health risk, associated with elevated liver enzymes. It's treatable with weight loss n monitoring. Low function gallbladder typically means no gallstones, but irritated gallbladder. This can be managed, (not cured) with low fat diet, extra hydration and monitoring. Cirrhosis, permanent damage to liver, usually from toxins like alcohol. Stay with your doc, a low fat diet and be well. ...Read more
