Low Dose Aspirin Vs Plavix
Other than stents (which is Baby ASA and plavix (clopidogrel) most likely), in what instances would ASA 81mg vs ASA 325mg vs Plavix (clopidogrel) or a combination be prescribed?
For recurrent stroke prevention, which is best: ASA vs Plavix (clopidogrel) vs ASA/Plavix (clopidogrel) vs Aggrenox? Risk of bleeding worse with any particular?
After Heart CABG better use Aspirin 100mg combination warfarin 2mg, or clopidogrel 75mg with warfarin 2mg??
Whether New oral anticoagulant drugs (pradaxa 150 2x/day) may be combined with anti-platelet drugs (Plavix (clopidogrel) 75 mg/day)?? i'm in Af also CAD??
Yes: be carful about bleeding because there is no antidote for these new agents. ...Read more

Stent 02-11-2013. Three different generic plavix (clopidogrel). Anxiety after starting plavix (clopidogrel). Last one gave reaction. Could switching to brand plavix (clopidogrel) be better?
Possible: But another medication such as Effient may be a better alternative. Did you receive a drug eluting stent or was it bare metal? ...Read more
Is conjugated linolenic acid safe to take while on a beta blocker, low dose aspirin? Adverse effects on LFT's / blood sugar?
Is rivaroxaban xalerto safe and good drug for preventing stroke in Afib compared to aspirin and plavix (clopidogrel) together in72 yr man with hypertension,s.cr1.56?
Xalerto is best: His CHA2DS2-VASc score is 2 (age and presence of hypertension). All studies have concluded that the benefit from anticoagulation significantly exceeds the risks for almost all AF patients with a score of 2 or more. Xalerto will more effectively reduce his risk of stroke and won't increase his risk of bleeding. ...Read more
What vitamin supplements should one avoid when taking 75 mg plavix, two 81mg aspirin and 40mg crestor (rosuvastatin) daily?
High dose E BUT...: Vitamins are by definition essential for health so I'm wary of any drug that makes it necessary to avoid vitamins. The only vit. that interacts with these is Vit E, which in high doses thins blood so may increase risk of bleeding with Plavix (clopidogrel) & aspirin. However, this potential risk pales in comparison with the known hazards of combining Plavix (clopidogrel) & aspirin. Please see http://bit.ly/VHiLuH & my comment: ...Read more
Propranolol safety in 18y/o male with tachycardia & high bld. Press? Life expectancy decreased? Side effects? Toprol (metoprolol) vs propranolol?
This is so common: That i despair of accurate diagnosis. Your heart and BP at 18 are controlled by the limbic system of the brain---a computer that organizes your ability to adapt to environment. Defective oxidative metabolism causes the computer to send out unnecessary signals through the sympathetic nervous system. Commonest cause is vitamin b1 and magnesium deficiency from ingestion of sugar and sweeteners. ...Read more
Taking low dose aspirin for CVE and stroke prevention. Also on 80mg of Lipitor (atorvastatin). Taking fish oil also. Am I at serious risk for hemorrhagic stroke?
Excellent Question: ScottK, you ask an excellent question. There is some evidence that having too low a blood cholesterol level can be dangerous as well as high cholesterol. Blood vessel walls need cholesterol for flexibility, and if two low can become fragile. Although the likelihood of a problem is low, I would discuss with your doctor. You might also want to think about adding Co-Q10. Take care and stay well! ...Read more
After stroke I have been prescribed 325 mg aspirin daily along with plavix (clopidogrel). Should that aspirin dose go down?
Not necessarily: That is a farily standard dose.Get a more detailed answer ›
Depends: Studies have been done comparing the two. Aggrenox seems superior in preventing recurrent stroke or tia's, but Plavix (clopidogrel) has more research on heart disease and periph vasc problems. Plavix (clopidogrel) is generic now and cheaper, but doesn't work well in pts with certain genetics, and interacts adversely with some ulcer drugs. Aggrenox has aspirin, which may be a problem with some. ...Read more
