Urine is the product of the kidneys, which is produced to eliminate the waste products of metabolism, manage body fluid balance, &maintain acid-base balance. The blood is first filtered by the kidneys, and the composition of the resulting fluid is then altered depending on the body's needs. It is composed of mostly water, and breakdown products from blood cells impart ...Read more

High creatinine level in 24h urine but normal in blood work. What can that be from pls.

Here are 2 causes: Here are two possibilities: 1. You collected more than 24 hours' urine. This would most likely happen if you collected the first morning urine on both the starting and finishing day. 2. You have a large muscle mass. Creatinine is a muscle breakdown product, and people with large muscle mass excrete more creatinine in urine as a result. ...Read more

My bun level is 16mg/dl and my creatinine 0.62 mg/dl normals but bun/creatinine is 26.1 should I be worried? I was fasting. Other blood & urine ok!

My bun level is 16mg/dl and my creatinine 0.62 mg/dl normals but bun/creatinine is 26.1 should I be worried? I was fasting. Other blood & urine ok!

Nope: The ratio is high due to a relative increase in the BUN with a perfectly normal cr. You may have been a bit dehydrated with the fast. No issue here. ...Read more

How to reduce creatinine level from 4.9, having protein in urine of 67 mg. Person also have fasting blood sugar of 160 and now slowly coming to normal?

Lowering creatinine: It seems as if this person has diabetes. Apparently, this person has seen a physician. The creatinine (c) is dependent on a person's sex, age, weight and race. To know what the renal function, a 24 hour urine for (c) clearance and protein needs to be done as well as a renal ultrasound. Go to physician and have the glucose controlled. The c may not go down but may not increase with therapy ...Read more

Had blood and urinalysis 7/15. Blood work was all normal but urine showed creatinine level of 409, trace protein, trace leukocyte esterase, WBC, hyali?

Stop worrying: I understand you have fibromuscular dysplasia of the renal arteries and hope this can be addressed. The urine creatinine, trace protein and hyaline casts are non-issues, the trace of leukocyte esterase and white cells (unless very numerous or you have symptoms of infection) are likely contamination, and if your physician is not concerned, I would not be either. Best wishes. ...Read more

Why would my blood creatinine be low and my urine creatinine be high?

Why would my blood creatinine be low and my urine creatinine be high?

Strong kidneys!: It sounds like your kidneys are working normally. That's what they're supposed to do -- clear metabolic products like creatinine from the blood, dumping it into the urine. The urine level might be especially high if you haven't been drinking lots of fluids lately, i.e. if the urine is relatively concentrated. In any case, this is a good sign, nothing to worry about. ...Read more

My aunt who lives in canada has a creatinine level of 151 and eGFR 33. And for the past two weeks has been passing blood with her urine. ?

My aunt who lives in canada has a creatinine level of 151 and eGFR 33. And for the past two weeks has been passing blood with her urine. ?

Low GFR: That is a very high creatinine level (not good) and a low GFR (not good either) + blood in the urine (not good). She needs to see a doctor (nephrologist if possible) to determine why this is happening (which could be many possibilities). Kidneys can be damaged very quickly for a variety of reasons, so hopefully your aunt will not delay getting a diagnosis! ...Read more

Here are some ...: The provided info is not enough for making an accurate guess. But my professional sifting through the words and lines leads to think about the pain/ache resulting from musculoskeletal / neuromuscular irritation, not from kidneys. To hone what may be, pack up the info on the onset, degree, duration, interval, evolution, $ progress of the pain / related Sx for Doc's analysis + physicals + tests ... ...Read more

My urine test shows creatinine is 1.3. Blood tests show urea 3.5 and persistent low egfr 55. What does it mean? What do I need to do? Feel really ill.

My urine test shows creatinine is 1.3. Blood tests show urea 3.5 and persistent low egfr 55. What does it mean? What do I need to do? Feel really ill.

Find cause: Assuming your creatinine is blood level; mine runs 1.5 or so as i'm a muscle kind of guy but it's high for a lady. This old-fashioned pathologist doubts the value of in lab-generated egfr's in the absence of known kidney disease. Anything from serious disease to over-the-counter painkillers can raise creatinine / compromise the kidneys for at least a while. Follow up & consider other causes. ...Read more
