Avoid diet pills: Who knows what's in the diet pills, but it's nothing that can help you and may harm you. If you're overweight, you don't have low cortisol levels, as low cortisol leads to weight loss. Check w/your doctor and get off the diet pills. ...Read more

Any of them: Sweating from overactie thyroid. It could also be from hormonal changes with estrogen or testosterone, and with kidney disease you could have an imbalance of those. ...Read more

See endocrinologist: It sounds like you have multiple endocrine issues. The cortisol level does not appear correct. Was this a blood cortisol or saliva? Saliva testing for low adrenal function is not valid. You really need to see an endocrinologist to sort this out. ...Read more

You need work-up: You should ask to be seen by an Endocrinolosit. Your question suggests that you may have low adrenal/thyroid function. Multiple gland "failure" is seen in a number of conditions. Certain blood/urine testing is indicated! Good luck! Hope this helps Dr Z ...Read more

Cortisol tests: In normal people cortisol goes up and down throughout the day, although it is higher in am than in pm. Therefore, it is hard to define what is "low". An afternoon cortisol of 5 may be perfectly normal. Adrenal failure is called addison's disease and is dangerous, but a random cortisol usually cannot be used to diagnose addision's. Cortisol levels: No, a workout would not do this. But what is meant by "abnormally low cortisol"? Cortisol varies considerably throughout the day.
