Gaining weight: That's great that you are not consuming a lot of carbs and are watching your diet. You also need to look at the overall quantity (and calories) of what you are eating as well. Are you exercising too? Without physical activity (cardio), it is hard to lose weight. You have to burn more calories than you are consuming. You might be doing this already and have another reason for weight gain. ...Read more
Sodium free beans (kidney, black, garbanzo, pinto) vs sweet potatoes which is healthier for wright loss? I've been eatin beans and avoiding potatoes
Neither: Both types of foods contain high glycemic index sugars, the sweet potatoes being somewhat worse. A balanced, lower fat diet and exercise will suffice for weight loss of 10 lbs. Or so. A larger weight loss might require a specific diet. Of those available you should look at the dukan diet. It is a low-fat, high protein, low glycemic index-food diet and is safe for most people. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
It depends: Whichever one has the least amount of carbs is probably best; if you choose bread then choose whole grain bread. Consider whole grain crackers that also have seeds as those will be lower in carbs (such as mary's gone crackers). In following a low carb diet you don't need to completely avoid grains but keep the amount of grains relatively low; whole gluten-free grains are relatively healthy. ...Read more
My friend had high fat low carb diet and omit wheat, rice, sugar oat and all other cereals from food list. Is it safe? M indian n can"t forego wheat.
Fad diet: This "pop" diet -- despite the elaborate "scientific theory" presented by its proponents -- probably works like most of the other diet fads by limiting food choices. It's your friend's business; i trust this person will use appropriate, cost-effective supplements as needed if it's too restrictive. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Try adding some whole grains and fruit into your diet in moderation and see if things get better. Don't drink too much caffeine. ...Read more
Is gluten free pasta ( maize starch, soy flour, potato starch and rice starch)with about 40 gm carbohydrates good for cholesterol ?
Does not matter: Since 90% of the cholesterol is produced by the body regardless of your diet, the above would not noticeably affect your cholesterol level. Do note that too much carb may not be good for your health. I don't believe extreme diet does anyone any good. Just eat anything in moderation and exercise at least 3 hrs a week will likely keep you in better shape. ...Read more

Sure, they're great!: Beans (legumes) are considered both a vegetable & a protein, & appear twice on the USDA Food Guide Pyramid. Beans have a low calorie count but pack a high fiber content. They help lower cholesterol, & are high in antioxidants, protein, B vitamins, iron, magnesium, potassium, copper, zinc.
