Low Blood Pressure After Heart Attack
Myocardial Infarction means some of the heart muscle dies because of insufficient oxygen supply. Most often this occurs because the coronary artery is blocked by plaque & clot. Other causes include tears in the artery wall, extremely high oxygen demand (eg, rapid arrhythmia, heart valve disorder, or severe systemic illness.) Prompt treatment can minimize heart damage & ...Read more
If a male 89 has a heart attack is in ICU with low blood pressure has had Blood thinners should there be operation at some point for heart blockage?
MI and need for surg: The decision to operate is based on evidence of coronary vascular disease. It appears that the angiogram was negative recently. He also had valvular disease which complicates things. Other factors come into play, the rest of his medical history will be used to determine his risks for surgery if needed. When the cardiologist determines why the heart attack occurred you can address fixing it.See 1 more doctor answer
Can nicorette (nicotine gum) gum and/or energy drinks cause false heart attack symptoms? Second. Is it dangerous to have low blood pressure?
No, not reliably: Consequences of heart disease or stroke on blood pressure and visa versa, the effect of blood pressure on the heart or brain, is not uniform. Clearly markedly elevated blood pressure is a risk for stroke and increases the work on the heart, but patients with normal blood pressure can still experience a stroke or have a heart attack. There are many other factors to consider
It can happen: Blood pressure is an element and the very high can tear the aorta or the coronaries, but blockage by plaque and clot occurs with or without BP elevation. The very low- shock can cause low coronary or brain blood flow. Generally less than 70-80 mm hg is a concern. Brain maintains good auto regulation from about 60 -160 if there is not other blockage or micro vessel disease.See 1 more doctor answer
If someone's having a heart attack. Wouldn't their blood pressure and pulse be low or they would have another prominent symptom right?
I had low testosterone senc 8 yeras im now 48 years old. I have high blood pressure I on maximum dose of androgel how to avoid heart attack..
Depends: This is very individual. If you have had high blood pressure for a long time, your body is used to it and may tolerate it longer. If you for example take Cocaine or other drugs that raise your blood pressure suddenly, even a small increase can give you a heart attack. No guarantees either way..See 1 more doctor answer
Different: Severe acute hypertension can cause tear of aorta and sudden death or need for emergency surgery. Can happen anytime with elevated bp but scary at 180 systolic and 120 diastolic. Can also cause left ventricular strain and hypertrophy and heart failure but usually not a heart attack acutely.
Any level: From low to normal to high can occur with either heart attack or stroke. With very high 150and greater systolic and 100 or so diastolic a number of bad things can happen: aortic tear-dissection, and heart attack or stoke may evolve. With high pressure intracranial aneurysm may burst, o r the brain may bleed. Complex sets of diagnostic issues.See 1 more doctor answer
Not the main: Hypertension causes left ventricular hypertrophy and strain and heart failure. Concomitant coronary disease can occur and infarction can happen hypertension is also asso. With aortic tear-dissection and that can involve coronaries and cause infarction. More to the entire story but that' s a start.
Yes: Yes eventually it will contribute to an increased risk.See 1 more doctor answer
I'm 17 and I have high blood pressure. I'm working on it, but I keep worrying that I'm going to have a heart attack at any moment. Overreacting?
My mum died of heart related problem. I believe its heart attack as a result of high blood pressure. Do you think I might suffer the same fate?
I keep thinking I'm going to have a heart attack, would a ECG show up a problem as it comes back normal so is blood pressure I'm fed up of anxiety?
Why?: Stop smoking. Check cholesterol get a cardiovascular rehab/ or exercize program going. May need a treadmill first as screening control weight check family history. Ekg does not predict but can be helpful if having arrythmia or chest pain. See your pcp and work on the causes of your anxiety! also.
Very: Aorta may tear first! I have seen 300/ 140 almost limit of cuff and accuracy high BP not always related to heart attack!
Hypotension is defined as "low blood pressure". Blood pressure is measured as two numbers and expressed as systolic blood pressure (sbp) / diastolic blood pressure (dbp). The sbp is the pressure that is generated when the heart squeezes. Dbp occurs when the heart relaxes. 120/70 is considered normal in adults. Less than 100/60 (of either number) can ...Read more
Blood pressure is a measurement of the force placed on the blood vessels and is comprised of the "systolic" pressure (the top number on a blood pressure meter) which is the peak pressure when the heart is pumping, and the "diastolic" pressure (the bottom number on a blood pressure meter) which is the pressure during the resting phase ...Read more
