Hematuria: Your hematuria (h) does not seem to be due to a lesion in your kidneys. Do you have a urinary tract infection (uti)? Your statement, "meds for not not work work", implies that you may have one. If you have no uti, you may need a cystoscopy to see if your bladder is the source of your h. A urologist can do this test. If negative, you may have a glomerulonephritis causing your h, see a nephrologist. ...Read more

I was told that I have mod. blood in urine but no UTI, what can be an issue? I am having low back pain (pinching) & unusual heart palpitations.

Micro-hematuria: Microscopic hematuria is fairly common and often from a benign familial tendency. Unfortunately, blood in the urine is also often the only sign one gets from some conditions that need to be discovered, like bladder or kidney cancer or kidney stones. See a urologist for workup. It likely will involve an office cystoscopic exam and upper urinary tract imaging. ...Read more

Cat scan shows kidney stones in both kidneys. Largest 10mm right side. Had on and off dull low back pain and blood in urine. Can they cause damage?

Yes: If the kidney stone blocks the flow of urine from the kidney, you can get permanent kidney damage, but that can take weeks to happen and is associated with severe pain. Also, kidney stones can become infected from pyelonephritis (kidney infection - not a typical urinary tract infection (uti)) and be challenging to treat. Please see your health care provider and consider a referral to urology. ...Read more

I've been experiencing low back pain that went to groin & it feels like my hip socket is grinding together. What could it be? No pain in leg.

Hip: Most painful conditions in the hip cause pain in the groin area, so I suspect it maybe an issue with the hip itself, which would go along with your complaints of a grinding sensation in the hip as well. The most common things we see are arthritic problems in the hip or an internal derangement of the hip such as a labral tear. An exam, X-ray, and possibly an MRI can likely determine the cause. ...Read more

Multifactorial pain: Without exam/MRI difficult to label your pains. Low back, hip, leg pain and numbness clearly CAN be related to indicate disc problems in the low back with resultant discogenic and radicular pain.
