Low Absolute Lymphocytes
Tested for second time for low absolute lymphocytes & they are still low. What could be causing this? Any way I can raise it?
How do you FEEL???: I am going to assume you are hiv-negative & levels are not super-low. My experience in the hospital lab taught me that many people run low lymphocyte counts for long or short periods without any explanation ever being found. If you are without other signs of systemic illness, it's a piece of information for your physician to remember but no threat to you. "Treat the person not the number.". ...Read more

And it sounds like you might already know that false pos syphilis tests sometimes occur in lupus and other autoimmune diseases. This is a complex situation -- discuss with your doctor. See an infectious disease or STD specialist if the positive test is confirmed as syphilis. Good luck! ...Read more

On labs my Absolute Lymphocytes is 1.5 say Low. I'm a 63 female. Should I be concerned with this?
It depends: While that level of lymphocytes is low, there are reasons why a person can have low levels, many of which are part of a normal immune response. When a person first encounters a virus or bacteria, neutrophil levels rise, and lymphocyte levels can fall. This switches over a week's time, when lymphocyte levels rise and neutrophils fall. If the overall white cell count is normal, the all is likely ok. ...Read more
