Loud Breathing While Sleeping
I have a 3 mo old that has caught a cold. She seems very congested. She does not have a temp but her breathing is loud while she sleeps. Help?
Bulb suction: If as you say, she is otherwise fine, nasal congestion is best treated at this age with Normal Saline nose drops and bulb suction. She sleeps whenever: The amount of sleep may not change but habbit of sleep will over time. When young, u have to work and have other responsibilties to accomplish during day, thus needing to sleep at night. At 92, she does not have to get up early, so sleeps whenever she wants, naps whenever convenient. As long as she feels well and active when up, she is fine. See your doctor: There are several possible causes. The reflux could cause breathing noises. Also, some babies have a weak airway and it makes more noises when they are lying down. Sleep apnea and AFib: There is a well known association between hypoxemia (low circulating oxygen in blood) and stress on heart manifesting as arrhythmia. In ur husbands case, loud breathing may be snoring. Have him see a reputable pulmonologist for eval and treatment of sleep apnea if he has it. Treat underlying cause of what may be worsening his AF. If you stopp breathing at night for more than 5 times an hour is Sleep apnea syndrome. There are different patterns. Is not normal & could do harm in the long run. Get advise & treatment. If overweight loose it!!! Probably will neeed a sleep test call polysomnogram.
