Under left eye feels droopy, tired/not open all the way, but it looks normal. Occasional mild burning/itching in back of eye. Dr. Prescribed lotemax (loteprednol) 2x/day, 14 days, no help. Annoying!

NO: There are no non prescription steroid containing eyedrops. There is a non steroidal antihistamine type drop, ketotifen generic, that is available without a prescription, but that does not work the same way as a steroid drop. If you need a steroid eyedrop to treat your condition then you should be under the care of an eyemd or othe recp that can test you and manage steroid complications. ...Read more

Yes it is safe but: They both work differently as Lotemax (loteprednol) is steroid preparation and optivair an anti inflammatory drops.But you can only use these together for short period, as prolonged use of steroid drops can cause side effects, but optivair can be used alone after that so limit the combined use for short term only. ...Read more

To be used cautiousl: Lotemax (loteprednol) and fml are not routine treaents for dry eye syndrome except in severe cases of keratoconjunctivitis sicca. When used,careful monitoring of the eye needs to be performed by treating Eye MD. Infections, glaucoma, and cataract are among the serious complications of chronic steroid treatment. A few: Lotemax (loteprednol) is a steroid of intermediate potency which has a lowered incidence of the major side effect of topical steroids for the eye which is elevation of eye pressure. It is very useful for topical and internal inflammation and is usually comfortable.
