Probably because...: One ate more food or drinks, meaning calories, than one used up during that week. Some women also hold onto water-weight and/or poop-weight during certain days of their menstrual cycle. If those days happen to be at the same time as when she eats too many calories, then the sudden weight gain will even be more striking. 42 yo male. Obese. Lost 7# last 3 days. Quit 600mg x 3/day ibuprofen habit 4 days ago. Water weight? In aug. Lost 20+ same circumstance. Gained back.
NSAIDS: Nsaids like Ibuprofen can cause fluid retention and even edema in some patients as well as raising blood pressure. Unless you also reduced calorie intake after stopping ibuprofen, then some of that could have been fluid loss although 7 lbs would be a lot of fluid retention over 3 days. Drink at least 8 - 8 oz glasses of water /day. Aim for 8 hrs of sleep & at least 5 servings of vegetables & 4 of fruit /day. Use whole grain when possible. Avoid soda, alcohol & junk carbs. Yes: Weight gain early in pregnancy is not and should not be the issue so many people want to make it into. As long as you are eating regularly, taking in good quality food in reasonable quantities and taking a multivitamin (prenatal), i would not worry about weight gain.
