Not much: I look at peoples mouths and tongues all day long and I've seen all types of tongues with all types of papilla. There is a huge variety of what is normal and as long as the tongue is not painful or in other ways bothering you there's nothing to worry about.
Probably nothing: Certain papillae of the tongue are normally larger than others, in particular the circumvallate papillae in the back of the tongue. If there are no taste disorders or other abnormalities its more than likely a normal variant.
You are normal: Be thankful. It sounds normal to me. Have it looked at and evaluated just to be sure or if you have any other questions.

Is there a surgical procedure that reduces the length of the tongue papillae? If yes, do plastic surgeons do it, is it a rare medical practice?
Not that I am aware: I am not aware of an option for treating long papillae.

Foliate papillae pain in right side of tongue had it years ago but went away now back. Left side fine. What would cause this?
Pain: From trauma, burn, neurologic disorder, GERD, infection, and a host of other possibilities. Please see an Oral Surgeon or an ENT for evaluation.
Foliate papillae that is on the side of the tongue. I have one that is dark redish black pretty far back on one side. Did not bite it or change diet.?
Dry mouth, allergies: Tongue papilla require moistness for proper function. If you suffer from dry mouth, do not drink enough water, or have had an allergic reaction to food, the papillae will enlarge. Make sure to stay hydrated, use a dry mouth mouthwash like biotene twice daily after brushing, and if it persists, see a dentist to make sure it is simply inflammation.See 1 more doctor answer

Probably normal: Everyone has 10-14 large papillae (circumvallate papillae) on the far back of the tongue. They can be hard to see, and when first noticed it is easy to believe they have just appeared or enlarged. Google "circumvallate papillae photos" and compare with what you have noticed. Lumps in front of tongue, looks like enlarged papillae or fungiform. Not painful. I didn't notice it before. What is it?
Inflamed circumvallate or foliate Papillae that never went away near tongue? What does this mean? It does not bother me at all.
Papilla: Those papilla are on the tongue itself and can be irritated by different stimuli. Monitor if no bother or see a dentist to evaluate cause and treatment
