Can a pregnancy ultrasound miss a twin? I had an early (8 weeks) ultrasound and the doctor said she couldn't rule out twins at this point. Could another baby really be "hiding"? Only one heartbeat detected, so i don't know what to expect.

If it's standard language, don't worry about it. Otherwise, there might be something they were looking at. ...Read more

No.: You may still have a molar pregnancy, even if a heartbeat was seen (partial mole). I would still be concerned about a complete mole given such a high hcg. Even a twin pregnancy doesn't normally go that high. ...Read more

How late can you detect a heartbeat from twin pregnancy with transvaginal ultra sound? If demise of one twin will other twin have issues?

Twin is high risk..: Generally, embryonic cardiac activity is seen between 5 and 6 menstrual weeks of pregnancy - single or twins or triplets. I'm 11 weeks gestation midwife finds one baby two sacs i didn't have a full bladder. Return in 2 weeks for repeat i dr can twin still appear, concerned.?

Not likely: Unfortunately not likely given the gestational age. The only possibility would be if the baby she saw was much earlier in gestation (for example if your cycles are irregular and you are only 6 weeks gestation versus 11 weeks by your period), then perhaps something would be seen on followup. But if you are truly 11 weeks, then she should be able to see 2 babies at that point. ...Read more
