Hydrate w at least 64 oz of water / day. Calories burned must > calories consumed. Do both cardio ; weight training.

Yes: Yes as long as you have been evaluated by your prescribing doctor and he monitors your blood pressure and heart rate. It is often best to ease into exercise if you have been inactive. Start walking first. There is no need to jog which puts more stress on your joints, a problem if you are still quite heavy. And do some weight/muscle toning too. Both types of exercise are important to reduce loss of muscle as you lose weight and exercise seems to help keep the weight off. Exercise is encouraged with your dietary efforts even while on appetite suppressants like phentermine.

Aim for at least 5 servings of vegetables ; 4 servings of fruit per day. Use whole grain when possible. Avoid sodas, alcohol ; junk carbohydrates. Get in a good mix of aerobic ; weight lifting exercises.

My goal is to lose 20 pounds within 10 days. Are there different types of detox diets that work besides the master cleanse?

Don't do it!: You will make yourself sick, you can end up in the intensive care unit, and your weight loss will be transient. Forget the idea that you need to be "detoxified"; start doing what nature truly intended, eat sensibly, focus on fruits and vegetables along with a good balance, and get with a group of people you like who exercise and will do it with you. You owe this to yourself.

Relative: That a wee bit restrictive. If you are morbidly obese, rapid weight loss is often not difficult. The first weight lost is often water. The liver contains glycogen which carries water. When that is expended water will go with it. If you are not obese & continue at a rate of loss this rapid- it may be too fast. If you are female - have you considered up'ing to 1, 200 calories. Talk to your doc.

Anythings possible: What kind of weight? Fluid of body fat. A pound of fat is approximately 3500 calories. No way to lose 12 pounds of body fat in 3 days. I'm assuming you want to lose your excess fat (?), not just weight. Also not safe way to proceed.

Water weight.: This can happen quite easily with water weight gain, such as after a salty meal. We can seemingly gain up to five pounds overnight due to water weight - this weight tends to go away very quickly. We cannot gain that much actual body weight, or lose it for that matter, that quickly.

Many variables: Weight gain overnight is usually a sign of fluids shifting into "storage" compartments (tissue spaces) in the body. This can occur with extra salt intake in your diet congestive heart failure, end of menstrual cycle bloating, as well as poor kidney function. It is best if this continues to have a MD exam to find out why this is recurring if you eliminate the simpler reasons for the fluid gain.
