I am type 2 diabetic, perfect blood pressure but doctor gave me losartan. What will losartan do?

Losartan in diabetes: Your doctor started you on losartan (l) due to the fact that you have proteinuria (p). Patients with high levels of p have increased risks of mi, stroke and renal failure. Your physician is adding l to prevent these complications in the future. Very normal: Sure is. Like peanut butter and jelly. Peas and carrots. Hugs and kisses. That combination is effective, safe, and used very commonly because the losartan helps cancel a troublesome side effect of hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) (potassium wasting) and hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) potentiates the effect of losartan.
