Losar Vs Telma
It depends: It really depends on the medical history of the patient. Both are anti hypertensives, but they work in different ways. For people with diabetes, Enalapril may be a better choice, while those with heart disease are often on either or both of those medications. Efficacy wise, each patient responds to the medicines a little different, so it really depends on the patient. ...Read more
Comparing bystolic (nebivolol) 5 mg vs 80 mg propranolol. Whic bb is better for BP control, side effect, popularity of usage, and more helpful for cad. Thanks?
1st gen vs 2nd gen: Propranolol is a first generation bb and effective for heart rate control, panic attacks, migraines, angina and blood pressure control. It's very inexpensive. Bystolic (nebivolol) is new and expensive. They share the same potential adverse effects. Neither is a first line BP medicine. There are many better choices than a bb for BP control but both are good for cad. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am taking Benicar (olmesartan) 40mg/HCT 25mg daily for HTN, can I substitute a generic or similar med for Benicar (olmesartan)?
Maybe: Benicar (olmesartan) is very expensive, so a lot of people look for substitutes which are similar but less expensive. You should talk to your doctor about generics like losartan/HCTZ 100/25 mg. This is very similar, same category, but much less expensive. However, it does not work quite as well either. Usually, we do trial and error until we hit the right balance of efficacy, side effects and cost. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Severe cfs 18 yrs now hypertensive and tachycardic at times. Am on losartan potassium. Heard beta blocker good. Which best antihypertensive for me?
Ben VS Ben/HCT. Benicar (olmesartan) drug sheet says Ben 40 mg has BP reductions about 13/7 while adding 12.5 mg HCT (Ben/HCT 40/12.5) reduction is 16/10 only. ?
BP reduction: Benicar (olmesartan) (B) is an effective BP lowering drug. Adding another BP lowering drug, HCT (H), gives an additive effect in lowering BP. That is why the combination of B and H lowers BP greater than B acting on its own. You can also ask your physician (P) your question for a more meaningful answer, as your P knows you best of all. ...Read more
