Lorazepam Dosage For Insomnia
If I use. 5 mg of ativan (lorazepam) every night for insomnia, in time will I build up resistance to drug and require a higher dose to give the same effect?
Very possible: This is a well-known and common risk of anti-anxiety medications chemically called "benzodiazepines" (or "benzos"). It's the main reason they are not recommended for long-term use, usually defined as over 2 weeks. Of course, not everyone reacts the same: some people develop tolerance (they "build up resistance") even sooner, while some take much longer, or never do. But why risk it? ...Read more
On a low dose of Zolof. Have had bad insomnia for months now, but not due to Zolof. Took Ativan (lorazepam) to help, but stopped. Can I take Tylenl PM with Zolof?
Tell your doctor: It is important that you talk to your doctor about the insomnia. There are various causes of insomnia. Your doctor can investigate further with the appropriate questions and tests. Although Tylenol (acetaminophen) PM can be helpful, it is advisable that you seek your doctor's help in determining the underlying cause (s). ...Read more
Dr told me to use. 5 mg of ativan (lorazepam) for insomnia, but to prevent addiction or need for higher dose, take sun thru thurs & not on fri. And sat.?
For awhile maybe: Then the psychological dependency may also begin, i.e., if you have a couple of poor nights sleep on the Ativan (lorazepam) nights and perhaps some struggling more than normal on the off nights, you may find yourself taking an extra dose on your medication nights or perhaps a dose on your off nights. At the end of the day, it's a temporary solution to a longer term problem, even taking it prn. ...Read more
I take. 5 mg of ativan (lorazepam) a couple times a week at night for insomnia. Would it be habit forming if I took it at night more often?
Depends: We each respond differently to habit forming drugs. Some ppl are biochemically more likely to become tolerant, and thus addicted to drugs such as ativan (lorazepam). Ativan (lorazepam) is in the benzodiazepine family - a strongly habit forming drug. Rather than taking it more often, I recommend exploring why you are having insomnia, and address the underlying issues first. Good sleep hygeine and stress reduction may help. ...Read more

Do you suggest bdz (lorazepam) to cure insomnia in a person in ipomaniacal phase? Does he risk paradox effect (agitation)? Thanks
See a psychiatrist.: You could not cure insomnia with any drug. Insomnia is a symptom and you need to find out the root cause of insomnia to treat it. I am not sure what ipomaniacal phase means. Do you mean hypomanic state? It is a state of mind that is less severe than manic state and insomnia is often a symptom. Lorazepam would help but some people have paradoxical effects. Please see a psychiatrist. ...Read more
Took. 5mg of ativan (lorazepam) 9 hours ago. My Dr recommended I take melatonin for my insomnia. Is it safe to take 3mg of melatonin in the same day as ativan (lorazepam)?
Probably okay: They may be additive in producing drowsiness or sleep.. You are better off using melatonin by itself for sleep, as ativan (lorazepam) is mainly an anti-anxiety medication that you could build tolerance to. Are you on methadone now too? Lots of additive effects when combined, if so. Hope your PCP is monitoring/ managing this along with your pain meds? You can also become tolerant to Melatonin's effects. ...Read more
I've been having insomnia for the past 5 nights. I've been taking 0.5 - 1mg of ativan (lorazepam) and it hasn't helped at all. Just makes me way more tired the next day because of no sleep. Could ativan (lorazepam) cause it?
Insomnia: The medication has different effects on different people, but if you keep a log, or sleep diaries, you can get more accurate information about what might affect your sleep and daytime fatigue. Your doctor may want to prescribe a hypnotic med, or one of the 2 low dose antidepressants that are helpful with sleep. But the longterm answer for insomnia is usually Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Inso ...Read more
Hello! My doctor prescribed Amitrip Hydrocloride 25mg and Lorazepam 2.5 mg to tackle insomnia is it safe to take both of them combined? Thanks :)
I got insomnia after trying ativan (lorazepam) for a week. Its not because anxiety that I'm not sleeping. I slept well before taking the medicine. I need help?
Better medicine: Ativan (lorazepam) is not a good choice for insomnia. Medication is not always the answer either. Go to bed the same time every night and get up the same time every day, no matter how much you sleep. Dark room, no lights! If medications are needed, there are things out there better than ativan (lorazepam). Talk things over with your doctor. ...Read more

How do I treat my anxiety depression and insomnia? I have been on ativan (lorazepam) for 14 years and its doing nothing
I want to stop taking so many meds. Have severe insomnia and some anxiety. I take 150 trazadone, 10 ambien, (zolpidem) and. 5 lorazepam nightly. How do I do this?
Oh my gosh, it:
Really wouldn't be ethical for any of us to jump in and direct treatment. This should be done under the supervision of the physician who is treating you. I will however provide some sleep tips that might help. 1. Keep regular bed ; wakening time (includes weekends). Get up same time daily.
2. Make a regular, relaxing bedtime routine: warm bath or shower, aromatherapy, reading, or listening to >. ...Read more

Terrible insomnia. Can't take ssri or snri.. 5 ativan (lorazepam) each night for sleep. Is this ok? Over the counter doesn't work. Does accupunture work for insom
It can. ..: Acupuncture has been show to reduce anxiety in some well controlled studies. Ativan is a very commonly used medicine for insomnia - however - there are newer medicines (eg, Belsomra) which target the sleep cycle directly which might be a better option. The other option I have used alone or in combination with other treatments is Rozerem (ramelteon). Hope that helps! ...Read more

How does trazadone work compared to Other sleeping meds like Zopiclone, Mirtazapine, Lorazepam etc.? ive got chronic insomnia / chronic anxiety?
Stopped hormone replacement therapy and now have symptoms including insomnia. Dr prescribed ativan (lorazepam) for sleep. Which is safer, ativan (lorazepam) or hrt?
Hrt: The best treatment for insomnia is to find its cause, often hormonal imbalances and deficiencies may play a significant role and hrt may contribute to eliminating or improving the sleep disorder. Ativan (lorazepam) simply relieves anxiety, which is not dealing with the root of the insomnia. It may be associated with dependence and side effects, such as hangover, memory loss, etc. ...Read more

I have been taking 1mg of Ativan (lorazepam) for 7 weeks for anxiety. I also have had trouble sleeping. How can I taper off safely without withdrawal symptoms. Th?
Ativan (lorazepam): If taken once a day should be producing some withdrawal symptoms already (it's a relatively short acting med) after 7 weeks. I would recommend splitting the dose in half and taking twice a day for a week then half the dose again for another week. Have the insomnia looked into in the meantime (cause?) consider video consult with a neuropsychiatrist (www. Healthtap. Com/ drericweisman) ...Read more
I've been having trouble sleeping, ativan (lorazepam) doesn't work. Docs want me to try valuim. I don't really want to do anymore benzos. How's melatonin for anxiety? Will it effect it, because my anxiety is BAD
Good chance!: Lorazepam can cause confusion which can cause agitation and sleeplessness (even though it is normally sedating). A good thing to stop using by a lot of people! But it has to be tapered slowly and carefully if a person has been on it for a long time or withdrawal can cause confusion, agitation, sleeplessness and seizures! The are other causes of confusion as well. See doc to sort out. ...Read more
Is 2 mgs lorazapam an okay dose for stress at work, not sleeping well and overwelmed with workload and need for speed and accuracy.
Not a great idea: Speed and accuracy can only be damaged by lorazepam. It is too addictive to consider long term use, you might become tolerant and present rebound anxiety if doses are skipped, in a short time. Much better options available, the answer is not a benzodiazepine like ativan. Ask your dr. Best of luck. ...Read more
Is 2mgs of lorazapam a safe dose for situational stress from work not sleeping well and experiencing some anxiety over tight schedules etc?
Sedatives: 2mg is a significant dose especially if it is the first time taking the medication. Rarely is that a starting dose. Initial prescriptions for that medication are in the. 5-1 mg range. Benzodiazepines are a controlled substance with high potential for abuse and dependence. Side effects are hypotension and hypoventilation.
