I take olanzepine 5mg and lorazepam 2 mg at bedtime, May I reduce the Lorazepam to 1 mg and add melatonin instead?
Yes.: Actually, the best time to take Olanzapine and Lorazepam is at bedtime because they are sedating. Some people take the Olanzapine after supper and the Lorazepam right at bedtime because it is faster acting. If the Olanzapine by itself controls your anxiety and puts you to sleep, you may skip the Ativan (lorazepam) all together and just take it as needed for breakthrough anxiety. ...Read more
Took. 5mg of ativan (lorazepam) 9 hours ago. My Dr recommended I take melatonin for my insomnia. Is it safe to take 3mg of melatonin in the same day as ativan (lorazepam)?
Probably okay: They may be additive in producing drowsiness or sleep.. You are better off using melatonin by itself for sleep, as ativan (lorazepam) is mainly an anti-anxiety medication that you could build tolerance to. Are you on methadone now too? Lots of additive effects when combined, if so. Hope your PCP is monitoring/ managing this along with your pain meds? You can also become tolerant to Melatonin's effects. ...Read more

If you have trouble sleeping don't take melatonin until you have discussed this with your doctor.
At your age it would also be a good idea to have your doctor refer you for a sleep study. ...Read more

Additive sedation: Both are sedating medications and when taken together, sedation is compounded. However, a doctor can prescribe medication with additive and compounded effect as long as this is factored into the dosage, timing and the clinical condition of the patient as well as use of alcohol. ...Read more

There are no interactions between folic acid and melatonin.
However, be aware that folic acid is a synthetic chemical that does not occur in nature. Our bodies must convert it to L-5-MTHF, the active form of folate.
About half of people have genetic issues that interfere with this conversion, so many people get much greater benefit from taking L-5-MTHF rather than folic acid. ...Read more
Probably not: Melatonin is a hormone that is naturally found in your brain which we believe helps us regulate our sleep cycle. It is not known what happens if a person takes it in a supplement form for long periods of time (even just weeks or months) so most doctors like myself do not recommend it. Using cocaine, with melatonin or not, is a really bad idea. Plus, last I heard, it's illegal. ...Read more

I take 1 mg clonazepam and 1 mg Ativan (lorazepam) in the morning for anxiety. Today I wantedTo try adding rhodiola rosea, are there any interactions with the herb?
Possibly: Clonazepam (Klonopin) and lorazepam (Ativan) are benzodiazepines, the former broken down by liver enzyme CYP3A4. Some data suggests that Rhodeola rosea impairs the function of such liver enzymes, so for a given dose of clonazepam a person might end up getting a higher blood level as if she had taken a higher dose. Rhodeola could be helpful so best to discuss with the prescribing provider. ...Read more
Can I take Fiorinal (aspirin butalbital and caffeine) w Codeine and then take a lorazepam 1mg 2 hours later? Any interactions or dangers?
Can minoxidil topical for hairloss cause palpitations? Can I use 5-htp, valerian and melatonin along with it? (interactions?)
Surprisingly, maybe: The dose used on the scalp is at least the same milligram number as the usual oral dose. While it generally doesn't get it, with irritated or scratched scalp I wouldn't rule it out. AND if it gets in, the blood pressure will drop and this can cause palpitations. 5ht, and valerian interact through seratonin but aren't likely to give much serotonin syndrome. ...Read more
Are there any drug interactions? I took 3mg melatonin at 1:30am, Aller-tec at 10:30 am, Lansoprazol at 11:30, and Benadryl (allergic reaction) at 12pm
Nighty night: The worst thing that'lll happen with those meds is that you'll probably get some much needed rest! LOL....I know cuz I've 4 teenagers of my own. At least you've got a good reason to be sleeping with the melatonin and Benadryl (diphenhydramine). That should put you down for a little snooze. Otherwise, you should be good. Drug interactions with niacin atenolol vit c magnesium iron Zoloft (sertraline) melatonin and armour?
Epocrates check: A quick check on my trusty med database program reveals 3 main negative interactions with those meds listed. Two of them are with armour. The armour interacts with both the iron and magnesium making the thyroid med less absorbed, so separate these vitamins from your armour by at least 4 hrs. The other major interaction is atenolol and niacin. Less cholesterol lowering effect and overlowering of bp. ...Read more
