Can I still get a thigh lift if I have high blood pressure? My high blood pressure is controlled with medication (i take lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) now). Am I still a good candidate for a thigh lift?

Can I still get a thigh lift if I have high blood pressure? My high blood pressure is controlled with medication (i take lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) now). Am I still a good candidate for a thigh lift?

You: You should be able to have a thigh lift if your blood pressure is well-controlled on your blood pressure medication. Patients who have uncontrolled high blood pressure may even run higher right after surgery and the risks of bleeding and having to go back to the or to evacuate a hematoma or blood collection are greater. Therefore, you will want to make sure that your lood pressure is well-controlled in advance of your surgery. I would suggest getting your regular physician to check into that, and perhaps monitor your blood pressure on a few occasions to account for any variability. ...Read more

Allergic to toprol (metoprolol). Can I take lopressor?

Allergy: Depending on whether or not you are allergic to the active ingredient metoprolol or the inactive ingredients in toprol would be the question, . It would be hard to know if you would have the same reaction to Lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) also. Lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) and toprol have the same active ingredient but different inactive ingredients. I would suggest discussing it with your practicioner to switch to another med if need. ...Read more

I usually take 25mg lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) a day, I might have taken 3. Will I be ok 57yr old male

It: It depends on what your heart rate and blood pressure are since this medication affects both. There are some patients on 75mg and others who can't tolerate more than a very small dose. If your heart rate and blood pressure were already low to begin with then you may have problems. The symptoms to watch for are lightheadedness, dizziness, loss of consciousness, or excessive fatigue. The medication typically lasts around 12 hours. Certainly if you are having any of the above symptoms you should seek medical attention and do not drive. If you are concerned you can also call you primary physician's office who should have someone on call to speak with. You can also call your local poison control center. ...Read more

I was on lopressor 25 mg 2 x daily. Now I'm on toprol (metoprolol) 50 mg xr. If I tolerated the lopressor well, them i'll tolerate the toprol (metoprolol) well to right?

Almost always: The active ingredient is identical. The only difference is the formulation, toprol (metoprolol) being a gradual (extended) release form. Since slow release avoids the peaks and valleys of the medication concentration in your blood, it's usually better tolerated than the shorter acting form. ...Read more

I take Novasc and Lopressor. Can I take Viagra, or Cialis, or Levitra safely?

Multiple facets: If you're taking these meds in order lower your BP or in order to prevent angina, would probably want some sort of stress test first. If taking for AFib and no symptoms would want Holter monitor first. Having stated this, it is my opinion that you may be taking a significant risk to your own life by starting such a medication without an in-person consultation with a medical professional. ...Read more

Is it ok to exercise vigorously while taking blood pressure meds like metprolol (lopressor)?

Lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) 25 mg made me feel bad. Propranolol made me feel fine but I need a selective beta blocker. Which should I try?

Atenolol: Try atenolol - 12.5 to 100 mg (25 to 50 mg are the most usual doses). Atenolol is a beta 1 specific beta blocker that has the least ability to cross the blood brain barrier of all available beta blockers. It has no intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. It is intrinsically long acting and generally is given as a once a day dose. It's also dirt cheap! ...Read more

Was on lopressor which is best to go to atenolol or toprol (metoprolol). For hbp?

Probably neither: I am not a big fan of beta blockers for hypertension, but if you have no other choice, the better option would probably be toprol xl as atenolol is not a once a day drug. The carrier for your drug is likely what you're allergic to, not the drug itself, explaining the reason why you're allergic to metoprolol and not lopressor (metoprolol tartrate). ...Read more
