Instead of remaining a shaped piece of poop, the poop spreads out in the toilet bowl water. Very loose stool is called diarrhea. Loose stool can be caused by infections, certain foods or drinks, ...Read more

Is frequent yellow solid stool and orange diarrhea with cramping nausea and losing 106 lb in 1.5 years a cause for concern?
Yes.: Yes. It's concerning, and should be evaluated by a physician in person. It would be best to schedule a visit with your doctor (and board certified physician in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is your best starting point) as soon as possible. In the meantime I suggest keeping a food and beverage diary along with writing down when you use the restroom and describing your experiences. ...Read more
I began antibiotics for a skin infection. A few days in had green soft stools. Now have light brown formed stools. With abdominal cramping. Cdiff?
Not C diff yet: To have soft stools only a few days into the course of antibiotics and then to have those stools regress back to formed stool, I do not suspect C. diff yet. I would expect C. diff to start a bit later, perhaps 5-7 days or more into the course of medication. My guess is that you are having a direct antibiotic side effect. Of course, if symptoms continue or worsen, check with your doctor. ...Read more
I've been having intestinal gurgling on and off for a week. Occasional mild nausea, no vomiting. Loose stools and gas pain too. Any ideas?
Sounds like you: probably have a stomach virus. Try some pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) for relief-it will turn your stools black in color. You can take pepto as long as you're not pregnant. Eat a bland diet next few days,or even clear liquids(like gatorade) and see if this helps. If symptoms persist, see your Dr. ...Read more
Is it possible to have a giardia infection and no loss of appetite? I only have diarrhea, loose smelly stools, belching and flatulence.
Is having one or two single loose stools (not diarrhea) a week IBS? I treated myself with loperamide. Now constipated and I have mucus? IBS?
IBS more complex: While loose stools and constipation can be part of the picture of IBS- simply based upon those 2 symptoms one cannot make a diagnosis of IBS. It is more complex so I recommend you see a physician so that an full history with blood tests, stool tests, and other diagnostics can be run so that a complete workup can be performed. www.healthtap.com/drsaghafi Key Code: PDXFNR ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No BM for a week then severe gas pains in my lower abdomen every evening for following week. Loss of appetite. Now BM only with colon cleanse.
Constipation: If you have seen your doctor and he has determined that your constipation is not due to a process of concern, than the most common cause, seen more in young women, is a sluggish colon. Recommendations to treat this are : increase fiber, hydrate well. If this does not work, or if you feel worse than stop fiber and replace with Miralax (polyethylene glycol). Make sure your MD is following you ...Read more
I have diarrhea and dysentery since two days. Stomach ache and loose motions. I ate outside food a few days back. Please suggest a remedy.
Prescribed z-pack for 7 days for travelers diarrhea. Had normal stools until last day of z-pack, then had very loose stools. 1month since the end of my z-pack and I still have loose stools. Already taking probiotics. Can loose stools last this long?
Giardia? IBS?: Azithromycin is effective against only some causes of traveler's diarrhea, not all. But even without Rx, TD usually resolves entirely within a month. Lloose stools due to the antibiotic also should not last this long. You should be evaluated for other causes, such as giardia, an intestinal parasite common in some travelers. Also, new research shows that TD can trigger irritable bowel syndrome. ...Read more
