No and yes: No, the therapeutic amount of blood stream hormones to suppress the pituitary are the same for the pill and the Nuva ring. However, since the Nuva ring is placed and absorbed vaginally, a lesser amount of hormone is need to achieve the therapeutic blood levels. The oral pill has more inert ingredients to be dissolved by the stomach acid before the active hormones are absorbed. ...Read more
