Yes: If you consumed any drugs after 20 wks gestation the doc is likely to find evidence in babies system. Both you and baby are subject the child protection laws of the state. The doc is required by that law to act on any suspicion of drug exposure to protect that baby's life as a new citizen. If you have remained clean, no problem, if not, you must deal with it. If I look: If she stops, it is healthier for her & the baby may actually survive the pregnancy. If mom draws attention to herself by being a known user, having drugie friends visit or for other reasons the Child & Family Services people have her on their radar she will have trouble. Think. Where will it all go, or `accumulate? But In Meconium which begins to form, I believe around 12 th or 16th wk. Drugs can be detected in Meconium by second trimester. If you stay clean and your UDS continues to be negative, they may not test Meconium.
