I have brown discharge after i start to take yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 13 days ago.Is this normal and it will last long?
Black = old blood : The color of the blood reflects how long the blood has been sitting inside your uterus or at the back of your vagina. Red is new. Brown or black blood is older and the blood products have started to break down. Some irregular bleeding like this with a new birth control method is very common and usually resolves on its own in a few days to weeks. ...Read more

Within a few weeks: You should go back to ovulating within a few weeks of stopping the pill - assuming you had regular cycles before you started the pill. At 23 it should take less than a year to conceive, but seek help sooner if you have known issues like endometriosis. About 85% of couples conceive in the first year of trying. Started taking yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) for almost 3 mos now for my pcos and skin breakouts. I'm turning 37 and would like to know how long can I be on this pill?
Long time: Women without risk factors like chronic hypertension, diabetes with damage to their blood vessels, history of blood clot, smoking, can take birth control well into their 40's. As you know all birth control pills can thicken your blood, and put you at increased risk for blood clot. Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) a little more so (3-4 in 10, 000 women versus 1 in 10, 000 with regular birth control). Exercise and be health. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very normal on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working. ...Read more

Came off yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) in jan my periods are still irregular 6 and 7 week long cycles! worried infertile as still not pregnant! does it mean I am not ovulati?
Ovulation: Ovulation occurs consistently about 14 days before your next cycle. If you know how many days there are from the first day of the bleeding to the next during your normal cycle just subtract 14 days. This allows you to predict when you should be ovulating. If your cycles are irregular then predicting is not possible. A home ovulation kit from any pharmacy will be more helpful. ...Read more
I've stopped taking Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) (BC) after 8 years. It has only been 3 weeks but I am suffering extremely painful cramps, bloating (I look pregnant) & nausea, how long will it take for these symptoms to subside?
A month or two: Unfortunately your body is trying to adjust to being off the hormones in your pill. This can take a month or two to sort out. The other thought is have you become pregnant since being off your pill? Could also explain some of your symptoms. Can check home preg test on first morning urine. If neg, repeat in 7-10 days. If both neg, unlikely pregnancy is cause. Hope this was helpful. Good Luck ...Read more
Hi, i am considering changing from cerazette to yasmin. no bad effects on cerazette other than weight gain (tested it by stopping for a few months and?
Unsure what ur ? Is: I agree with unchanging from a progestin only pill like cerazette to a combine oral contraceptive pill because they are more effective and forgiving. If I miss a dose and may provide other benefits like improving acne. However, I would recommend a different formulation than Yasmin, like Loestrin or Sprjntec which have lower risk of blood clots. ...Read more
