Years ago, drank water from a natural sprig. Then got very sick with stomach bug, diarrhea weigh loss. Given cipro (ciprofloxacin). Got better. Any long term effects?

Aren't cipro's effects cumilitive, meaning the longer you're on it, the more likely you'll have a bad reaction/side effect?
Now: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) and Bactrim are both anti-biotics. They could potentially be taken at the same time. Why 1 bactrim?
