Taking Levlen (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) ED birth control, fought my cycle, began first 7 day break, after 5 inactive pills, still no period, could I be pregnant?

Maybe not, but...: If worried, just do a pregnancy test. A urine test done correctly gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened). If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and therefore lead to a repeat test. ...Read more

Bad odor, no discharge. On orthocyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) first month, on inactive pills. No period. No period month before bc. Possibly pregnant?

Possible: Its not unusual to not have a period on the pill, check a upt. The odor could likely be improved by a short course of antibiotic. You could use a vinegar douch but do so carefully in that too much pressure could cause push bacteria to go into uterus creating an infection? The upt is the way to go, no one will tell you you can't be pregnant unless you have no uterus. Good luck. ...Read more

Had light breakthru bleeding 2 weeks before taking placebo pills, on Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 5 years, never had BTB. Should I have skipped the placebo pills instead?

Had light breakthru bleeding 2 weeks before taking placebo pills, on Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 5 years, never had BTB. Should I have skipped the placebo pills instead?

Not necessarily: I may not make a big difference wether you skipped the placebo pills or not. Either way you would be protected from conceiving. Break thru bleeding is common on BCP. Things like stress, significant exercise or weight loss can affect the delicate hormonal control of your cycle. If the breakthrough bleeding reoccurs often see your Gyn to be sure no medical problems are causing it to reoccur. ...Read more

First month taking yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol). 3 pills left on first pack. No period yet. Sexually active, always uses condoms. Why no period yet?

Just started taking lo loestrin fe. took 5 active pill, then took sugar pills during my period. I just had unprotected sex, Is my bc still effective?

Birth Control: If you actually start your OCPs when you start your period, you are immediately protected. If you start at any other time, I usually recommend a back up contraception for 2 weeks. Also, when you start pills in the middle of your cycle, it can throw your period off. I would suggest continuing the pill as prescribed, but taking a pregnancy test in the next 2 weeks. Good luck ...Read more

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working. ...Read more
