When self-calculating testicular volume by ruler, is it right to subtract a specific number(e.G. 3mm) from each dimension for thickness of scrotum?
Medical Mystery: Hi, as a physician I am very curious as to why your are measuring your testicle's size. One will always be bigger than the other. Going blind through the scrotum is not very effective. An ultra sound would be wiser. But, i would be curious to know what this information is for and why you want it. I have never heard of a man or boy doing this kind of testing. ...Read more

Ovarian cysts: Dear Heather-- Simple cysts seen on transvaginal sonography are almost always benign. Solid cysts need to be followed by a gynecologist because of slight risk of ovarian cancer. CA-125 is usually negative with ovarian cysts. Whenever a test result is questioned it should certainly be repeated. One or several ovarian cysts are not related to weight gain. ...Read more

May have to remove i: Complex ovarian cysts require closer monitoring and consideration of removal if they grow in size. The size is still not big enough to chase it and remove it right now. But an interval re-evaluation in 2-3 months will help to determine if it is increasing in size or not. If it grows over 6 months and the size is bigger than 6-7 cm, i would recommend surgical removal. But also get a ca125 level do. ...Read more
