Depends on size: But if you are having no pain at all and it is less than 1 cm, probably nothing to worry about. If it gets larger it could be infection or tumor (such as hodgkin's disease) or femoral hernia. Pls see a doctor. ...Read more

Is it okay to use mupirocin on an under the skin pimple that I messed with & caused it to swell & tore some skin. Swelling has gone down. ?

OK: But there will be no benefit. Also note that studies show no benefit from use of "antibacterial" [triclosan] soaps. If the swelling is subsiding you may need nothing more. If it persists and bothers you a dermatologist will get rid of it. ...Read more

Yeah, you'll want to: see someone about that.
without an exam, I can only give general information. We go from what is there at the site of the problem. There are muscles, joints, and tendons. The joints can swell up. But bones can have chronic stress fractures. In both cases, long term treatment of immobilzation and x rays to see what is going on is helpful. ...Read more

I : I assume this was done through the groin, not the arm. It's very common to have a painful bump in the area they inserted the catheter. It will last a week or so. They should have advised him to avoid stairs and lifting for a week. If he were bleeding under his skin, the entire area would be swelling, and he'd be feeling weak and light-headed. When in doubt, call the cardiologist who did the catheterization. I'm speaking from personal experience, not as a podiatrist. It took a week for my pain and bump to go down. Who would have thought that the way to a man's heart is through his groin? Hope this helps. ...Read more

Infection?: If the swelling is related to a zit or pimple then it could be infected. You may have to see a doctor or dermatologist to have it looked at if it is continuing to get worse or doesn't start getting better within a couple of days. Just got tb skin test and small 4 mm area is pinkish red like bleeding under the skin but no swelling or bump. Is this positive? Freaking out.

Just got tb skin test and small 4 mm area is pinkish red like bleeding under the skin but no swelling or bump. Is this positive? Freaking out.

No: PPD/Mantoux/TB tests are interpreted by measuring the degree of induration (raising of skin), not discoloration. In addition the cutoff for size for positive test is: 15mm for low risk patient 10mm for high risk patient 5mm for HIV patient so in no case would 4mm qualify as a positive test; though again 4mm of pinkish red color without swelling is meaningless. ...Read more

Bug bite: You probably got bitten by a bug of some sort - impossible to tell what sort without seeing it in person. Could also be a small staph infection, or a bite that has become infected. Apply warm soaks 2-3 times/day, but if it doesn't resolve in a few days see your doctor or a dermatologist. ...Read more

Have a lump under the skin on the shaft of my penis its been there for ages. Every now and again it will swell a little and be a bit sore if I grip it?

Sebaceous cyst?: Since this has been unchanged "for ages", this probably isn't at all serious. A sebaceous cyst probably is the best bet. Try to avoid messing with it, which might be why it swells and gets sore; you may be making things worse. Or see a doctor and ask about potential minor surgery (incision and drainage, or removal) to prevent risk of more serious inflammation or infection. ...Read more
