Small lobulated heterogeneously enhancing isodense mass at upper pole of left kidney measuring 2.8x2.4 cm. Please help?

Ask your doctor...: More info on your general health profile will help decision-making. Clinically, nowadays, you have 3 reasonable options to follow including: 1, if young and healthy, do laparoscopic partial nephrectomy; 2. if reluctant, do biopsy to decide benignancy or malignancy - if malignant, operate as that in 1.; if benign, watch and see; 3.consider radio-frequency or cryo ablation. A hypoechoic lobulated mass in the interior pole of the left kidney demonstrates internal flow on doppler interrogation measuring 1.1x1.4x1.2cm. Findi?

More tests needed: It appears the next step would be to get a ct scan or MRI with contrast (if you can tolerate), as I am sure your physician or radiologist has already recommended/ordered. There are many possibilities and this is just a very scientific description of what is seen on the ultrasound, but the radiologist cannot tell you what it is yet. After the ct or mri, a biopsy or surgery might be necessary. ...Read more

MRI of back also showed exophytic T2 bright lobulated focus involving superior medial Rt kidney measuring 2.1 cm. What could this be?

Depends: What type of MRI was acquired and discovered this finding? This could be a frequently seen incidental cyst seen on a lumbar spine MRI or a mass as part of a renal lesion evaluation study MRI. Feel free to schedule a consult to review your exact imaging and this finding. ...Read more

Cect whole abd. With rectal contrast few tiny right renal cortical cysts, kidneys show mildly lobulated outline. Mild thickening sigmoid mucosal folds?

No practical alarm..: The findings of kidney cysts and lobulated outline pose no practical risk to you unless you have family history of adult polycystic kidney disease with hypertension. At most, get an kidney ultrasound for follow-up on renal cysts in 2-3 yrs; if benign, further follow-up is not warranted. But, in doubt? Ask doctor timely. ...Read more

Can you please explain what a lobulated and involuting ovarian cyst is?

Collapsing: Imagine a ball that is slowly getting deflated, it is possible that you had a follicle or developing egg that ruptured and is now leaking the usual fluids that it creates to support the egg while it is growing. What does this statement mean in lay terms.....Adnexa: 4.0 x5.7 x3.2 cm lobulated hypoechoic mas with small amount of flow on color doppler?

Adnexa is Ovary/mass: You have a mass in or around your Ovary. Your Gynecologist can help you in terms of future monitoring or removal of this mass. Most such masses are Ovarian cysts. My wife was just found to have a "lobulated hypoechoic mass" in her groin area? More tests are forthcoming but what possible diagnoses are there?

Need to know organ.: In which organ of the groin (skin? Cervix? Uterus?) was the lobulated hypoechoic mass found? Usually, hypoechoic means that it's fluid-filled, ie, a cyst of some sort. Lobulated means that rather than being spherical or ovoid in shape, it seems to have two different lobes ("Mickey Mouse ears" in appearance). Some organs are prone to forming cysts; others don't (in which case it's more worrisome). ...Read more

Slightly lobulated cyst.... On right ovary. Can that affect getting pregnant. What is lobulated cysts. Measures 2.1 x 2.2

Sounds okay: "slightly lobulated" is a subjective term. It likely indicates that the cyst is not just a simple small bubble, but also that it is not worrisome in appearance. Most cysts are follicular (from egg follicle development) and will come and go. This process is normal and should not interfere with pregnancy. Of course, it's best to get clarification from your doctor. ...Read more

Do breast fibroedenoma occurs in 66 yrs of age? If so does it shows well lobulated mass lesion on scan?

Yes,: Fibroadenomas can be present at age 66. And yes, it can typically be a well defined (circumscribed) mass with several lobulations. However, the appearance may not be specific, and needle biopsy may be indicated for confirmation and to rule out malignancy, so talk to your doc. Management depends on assessment of all the imaging features, and there is limited info presented. ...Read more

What is a lobulated heterogeneous hypoechoic nodule with scattered calicifications in the inferior right lobe of thyroid mean?

Thyroid Nodule: Thyroid nodules are very common. About 70% of the population has a nodule (many don't know it). About 5% of nodules are cancerous, which is why we care. Unless there were concerning characteristics on the ultrasound like microcalcifications, >1cm, taller than wide or increased blood flow or you have a family history or radiation exposure, typically we just follow-up with an annual ultrasound. ...Read more

After TVUS the results showed a 3.3 cm lobulated involuting simple cyst on my left ovary, currently on OCP. What is the risk of malignancy?

Ovarian cyst: Malignancy risk is low for young women (pre-menopausal) with ovarian cysts. Also, consider family history, there may be increased risk in family members of someone with ovarian cancer.
A safe approach is to have periodic follow-up sonograms and gynecologist evaluations. ...Read more
