Recheck: The blood test should be redone as other values should be affected but if really true value, then their are other tests to be done. The eye may not be yellow depending on the level of the bilirubin. High bilirubin may come from the liver/gall bladder or blood disorder.Goodluck ...Read more

Liver (Definition)

This organ plays a major role in metabolism and has a number of functions in the body, including glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells, plasma protein synthesis, hormone production, and detoxification. I have fatty liver resulted to my blood test result 84.6 <45 (alt/sgpt) & 49 <42 for gamma-glutayl transferase (ggt). Is this curable?

Fatty Liver: Usually fatty liver is a consequence of increased body fat, diabetes, or alcohol consumption. Reversal of those precipitating causes can reverse the fatty liver effects. A very small fraction of patients may progress to cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver if the cause of the fatty liver is not addressed appropriately. ...Read more

Need a workup: This may be nothing more than your liver asking for you to exercise more. Or it may be a warning of hepatitis B or C, Wilson's, hemochromatosis, autoimmune hepatitis, or any of several other entities that are easy to treat, deadly if missed. I trust you are not a drinker and are not taking medications -- some folks have allergy to ibuprofen that can do this. ...Read more

Need evaluation: Do you drink alcohol? Are you on any medications? Alt of 69 is higher than normal but not that high. If you drink, stop for three months and redo the test. All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the test is usually in the best position to do that. ...Read more

Can not tell: These tests are really misnamed. They have nothing to do with liver function but liver injury. Something is injuring the liver at a very slow rate. Even mild elevations as yours are, if it persists over years then it can be serious. It really depends on the cause. Some causes are more of a problem than others. It is important for your doctor to consider the cause if the levels stay elevated. ...Read more

I just got my liver blood test and the levels of alt are !45U/L. The normal range on the results paper is 5-37 doctor said Normal. What do you think ?

ALT: This is a borderline result for ALT. It is difficult to interpret lab results without knowing the clinical setting. If your doctor is not concerned, you're probably okay. A reasonable approach may be to repeat that lab test down the road, particularly while avoiding alcohol, to see if it improves. You should discuss this with your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more

Is it truth that daily exercise results in higher values in blood test liver values and colesterol? So for a short period is bad for health?!

Ignore lab: Daily exercise is always good and is part of a normal health program, so don't worry about lab providing that you are in good health. Exercise is for fit people to help to maintain fitness. If you are in poor health, that needs to be corrected first. Got pale skin and vit d deficiency, my blood test/liver function test/thyroid test result were normal. So what would be posible cause of pale?

Genetics and sun: Pale skin is not a disease. The color of skin is determined by genetics and sun exposure. If your genes give you pale skin and you don't get a lot of sun, you'll be pale. Vitamin d deficiency doesn't make you pale. Lack of sun, however, will make you pale and give you vitamin d deficiency. Hope that helps. ...Read more
