Age 58, non-alcoholic.have liver cirrhosis due to Portal Hypertensive.still have 40% liver working.it can be stable always or what is life expectancy?

There is no "40% working" - best markers are those of synthetic function. get the underlying cause treated if possible (?HCV), stay as healthy as you can. But no, unlikely to remain 'stable always'. ...Read more

Difficult to say: With the approval of the latest round of hep C medicines, hep C has become a potentially treatable illness, sometimes even in the face of known cirrhosis. He needs to see a good hepatologist ASAP. In the meantime, no alcohol, tylenol, or shellfish. Good luck. ...Read more

What would the life expectancy of a patient with alcoholic liver cirrhosis be?

Depends: People with cirrhosis can live many years, but once they start developing complication of ascites (fluid build up in belly), confusion (hepatic encephalopathy), varices (vomiting blood) or liver cancer, the life expectancy is much less. It'll kill him...: ... unless he stops drinking. Period. From the clinical findings, this individual continues to be a "moderate drinker." Without sobriety, his chances of recovery aer zero. How soon? I can't tell you. Can we get through this man's denial? I don't know. Is this you? Do you want to die? Or would you like to feel well once again. Cirrhosis is largely reversibly -- IF you sober up. ...Read more
