Warm compress: It's probably a sty, a moderately inflamed "sweat duct" in the eyelid. I tell my patients to get a damp wash cloth and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot. Place warm compress the closed eyelid for about5-10 minutes and re-heating as necessary. You should see a health care provider for evaluation and to receive appropriate prescription therapy. As you describe a "bubbly" rash, I would recommend an examination to make sure that this isn't a herpes silmplex virus infection, which can be serious around the eye, ; can affect the ocular surface. An urgency: You were cut off, but I suspect you were going to end with "Is this an emergency". Well, probably not. The risk is that infection may occur and especially if the cornea is scratched. The blister is evidence enough of mechanical trauma. Would recommend urgent care visit within 24hrs to examine cornea for scratch. Would update tetanus vaccination as well. ...Read more

Shingles: You are describing what sounds like an Herpes Shingles eruption. I recommend a quick evaluation and initiation of treatment to lessen the severity and viral shedding. An antiviral medication like Valtex™ 3000mg daily is given for 7-10 days. It's best to treat within 3 days. Also any lesions near the eyelid or eye should be evaluated concurrently by an EYE MD, especially if rash is above the eye. ...Read more

Unlikely: It is unlikely to get fever blisters on your eyelid but if this happens, you need to see an ophthalmologist ASAP to make sure that your cornea is not affected. As for poison ivy, it is also unlikely that you get it only on the eyelid. Consider seeing your eye doctor. ...Read more
