What alterations for the lithotomy position would you consider for a client with copd?

What alterations for the lithotomy position would you consider for a client with copd?

Not a lot: When the patient is put in the lithotomy position it is for access to a certain area in the pelvis or perineum. The legs can sometimes be adjusted based on the type of surgery. The big concern for lung issues would be to keep excess pressure off of the lungs so they can function properly. If the table is tilted to far in a head down position the lungs can not work as well. ...Read more

Can the lithotomy position be used for a colonoscopy?

Any position can...: ...Be used for a colonoscopy, and often the patient is turned during the exam to facilitate scope excursion ; to optimize visualization. Please discuss with your colonoscopist what starting point is his preference ; what positions you may not be able to tolerate. Digital rectal exam lithomy position?

Digital rectal exam lithomy position?

May depend on doctor: A good position for a rectal exam is a one where the anus is accessible to the doctor's finger, and the doctor feels he is able to get a really good exam: lying on the side, bent over the examination table, or lying down with feet in stirrup (lithotomy position), etc... The position is not that important. What's important is that the dr. Is able to reach and feel everything he wants to examine. ...Read more

Is there a certain position the Aspen Vista lumbar brace could be worn?I need to avoid the swelling and your sensitive area if poss. See uploaded pic

Is there a certain position the Aspen Vista lumbar brace could be worn?I need to avoid the swelling and your sensitive area if poss. See uploaded pic

TLSO brace: I'm not sure if the Aspen brace is similar, however a lot of the harness style or thoracic and lumbar supports have a back panel that slides up and down. It's usually fitted with a Velcro closure that you can open and then I adjust so that the waist or lumbar support sits just above your hip bones. Often if it's worn too high you will irritate the waist and lower ribs. Hope that helps! ...Read more

Can I send you a picture what I think I have?

Can I send you a picture what I think I have?

Pictures: Realize pictures are never the same as a face to face examination. It is possible to send a link to the picture you take and possibly one of the Doctors could see it and provide you some insight, remembering that HealthTap is not for diagnosing and treatment, whereas the Concierge PRIME service is. Also remember any pictures should be medical in nature and not inappropriate. Best wishes. ...Read more

Can a dr please look at my profile symptoms? See what you think any suggestions I don't think my dr is looking at the full picture and connecting dots

Get a 2nd opinion: If you're not satisfied w/your current care, get a second opinion. Ask around. Talk to your friends & family about who they like & trust. Of course, it'll cost money so be prepared to pay out of pocket if this new doc doesn't accept your insurance or if your insurance balks since they've already paid for your 1st doc. But do understand, we can't just look at profile symptoms w/o physical exam. ...Read more

Hello. : Hello. I did not view your picture. But i did see the tag for hemorrhoids. One thing that is important is not to make your hemorrhoids worse. When you have a bowel movement be gentle when you clean yourself off. You can use pre-moistened towelets to dab your anus. Try not to wipe/rub. If you were in europe, you could use a bidet to clean yourself after a bowel movement. Pat the anus dry after cleaning. Avoid using harsh soaps or ones that contain dyes or aromas. Cotton underwear can be helpful as it absorbs moisture well in the anal area. Sitz bathes can be helpful. Sit in a bathtub with warm water. Make sure there is enough water to submerge your anal area. Soak for about 15 minutes – several times a day. There are a number of over-the-counter medications you can use for your anus to help with itching, burning and pain. Preparation h is one of the more well known products. Oral tylenol can also help with discomfort. It is really important to try not to get hemorrhoids in the first place. Stay well hydrated (at least 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water per day). Try to get in 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day – get that fiber in. Stay physically active if possible. If hemorrhoids become really problematic, it require a visit to a general surgeon. ...Read more
