Can the lithotomy position be used for a colonoscopy?

Can the lithotomy position be used for a colonoscopy?

Any position can...: ...Be used for a colonoscopy, and often the patient is turned during the exam to facilitate scope excursion ; to optimize visualization. Please discuss with your colonoscopist what starting point is his preference ; what positions you may not be able to tolerate. Remember, however, two things: 1) you will be sedated; 2) safety and comfort are your doctor's priority. ...Read more

What alterations for the lithotomy position would you consider for a client with copd?

What alterations for the lithotomy position would you consider for a client with copd?

Not a lot: When the patient is put in the lithotomy position it is for access to a certain area in the pelvis or perineum. The legs can sometimes be adjusted based on the type of surgery. The big concern for lung issues would be to keep excess pressure off of the lungs so they can function properly. If the table is tilted to far in a head down position the lungs can not work as well. ...Read more

Digital rectal exam lithomy position?

Digital rectal exam lithomy position?

May depend on doctor: A good position for a rectal exam is a one where the anus is accessible to the doctor's finger, and the doctor feels he is able to get a really good exam: lying on the side, bent over the examination table, or lying down with feet in stirrup (lithotomy position), etc... The position is not that important. What's important is that the dr. Is able to reach and feel everything he wants to examine. ...Read more

Is there a certain position the Aspen Vista lumbar brace could be worn?I need to avoid the swelling and your sensitive area if poss. See uploaded pic

TLSO brace: I'm not sure if the Aspen brace is similar, however a lot of the harness style or thoracic and lumbar supports have a back panel that slides up and down. It's usually fitted with a Velcro closure that you can open and then I adjust so that the waist or lumbar support sits just above your hip bones. Often if it's worn too high you will irritate the waist and lower ribs. Hope that helps! ...Read more

Can I send you a picture what I think I have?

Can I send you a picture what I think I have?

Pictures: Realize pictures are never the same as a face to face examination. It is possible to send a link to the picture you take and possibly one of the Doctors could see it and provide you some insight, remembering that HealthTap is not for diagnosing and treatment, whereas the Concierge PRIME service is. Also remember any pictures should be medical in nature and not inappropriate. Best wishes. ...Read more

Is there anyway I can share a picture with what's going on with my skin?

Have you considered: using the feature that allows you to be in contact with the healthtap provider of your choice for a nominal fee. You can share the photo. If you elect to do this - would recommend selecting one of the dermatologists. ...Read more
