Can a food allergy cause mental slowness/confusion? I have new food allergies (IgE testing) and trying to make sense of it all. Thanks!
Not likely: Many people with no food allergy will produce antibody that reacts to the food allergy panel. Thus, these tests need to be interpreted by experts who treat food allergy daily. Skin testing is often more accurate, but ones history of symptoms that follow an ingestion is critical as well. Yes, dizziness/fogginess can occur with allergy, but is transient immediately following intake. Be well!
Help! Need to know if there's a mental issue or slowness that can cause a speech impediment, such as not being able to form words?
More info needed: That is a very general question. It depends on many factors, including the age and overall health of the patient, the nature of the symptoms, medications being taken, and many others. However, it is safe to say that the development of such a symptom where it previously did not exist warrants an evaluation with a primary care physician.
Could be either/both: There is a lot of overlap between the symptoms of thyroid dysfunction and depression/anxiety. Many psychiatrists and primary care doctors will check thyroid blood tests before considering treating the mood issue. If thyroid is dysfunctional then treating the thyroid condition might improve or alleviate the depression/anxiety.See 1 more doctor answer
Most often.: Parkinson's disease. But to be certain you should have him examined by a neurologist. A common finding is what is known as resting tremor, also called "pill rolling" tremor because the patients appear to be rolling a pill between thier thumbs and index fingers at rest, but when they reach for something, often the tremor disappears. There are other causes that any good general neurologist can ID.See 1 more doctor answer
Can slowness/difficulty in reading come from lack of detailed reading (looking at headings, titles, skimming/not reading content often) or dyslexia?
Either!: Skill and speed at reading certainly depends on practice! Every improves with practice, even with learning disorders. However if you have a learning disorder, see a specialist to find out what kind, then you can be given effective methods to make learning easier. When trying to read faster, pick a subject that you like! It is often easier to get more enjoyment from non-fiction/jokes first
Can the use of Lexapro (escitalopram) (15mg) affect cognitive functioning and cause mental slowness?
Loss of appetite. Unusual tiredness weakness. Slow breathing. Slowness in reaction. Moody. Since I woke up this morning.
Weakness: See your doctor sbout the possibility of a thyroid problem, specifically hypothyroidism.
On 100mcg of Levothyroxine but still feel sluggish, anxious, mental slowness, and lack of motivation. Possible other underlying issues?
Depends: Usually hypothyroid has accompanying labs done. While your dose maybe within range you might need to ask your physician to consider an increase as clinically you are not feeling as good as expected. I usually treat the patient, the labs are guidelines and I would refer you back to whom ever prescribed the med. Need more information as well to consider additional medical diagnosis.
Not feeling depressed but doctor put me on abulify for unbearable fatigue and "slowness" she's not sure itsmood or my uctd, how would abulify help?
Parkinson. Slowness movement, beginning state. 2 guide fr 2 doctors: 1st: sifrol 250; 2nd: trivastal 50mg, lioresal (baclofen) 10mg, artane 2mg. Which one better?
Critique: Trivastal, a newer Dopamine agonist, is not available in the usa, but might be a choice. Sifrol, pramipexole, is likely your safest and best starting drug. There is no role for lioresal, (baclofen) and Artane is literally "poison" and is not used in the usa. Choose the doc who recommended sifrol.

I'm passing food at an incredible rate sometimes in as little as 3 hours. What can I do to slow my digestion to allow for proper absorption?
What are some natural things u can take 2 help aid in digestion for someone with a slow moving digest system and constipation, food in stomac next day?
Several things: First, get checked by your doctor, to rule out anything scary. Then drink plenty of water, eat fiber (esp veggies, fruits, legumes and flax or chia seeds) (great website: http://www. Whfoods. Com/genpage. Php? Tname=nutrient&dbid=59), probiotics (beneficial bacteria), prebiotics (what those bacteria use for food) and digestive enzymes. Experiment and see if certain foods slow your digestion.See 1 more doctor answer
What can I do for slow colon emptying. Also my food digestion is very slow. Severe constipation because of it. I do not have a bm for 5-7 days.
Fluid/ fiber/ see md: You should be pushing 30+ grams of fiber a day and drinking at least 64 oz of water as well. This is so important and can help the majority of people with constipation. However, you may need some basic testing. A colonoscopy will usually not show the answer but may be helpful if bleeding or weight loss. See a doc because there are meds, otc and prescription that can help. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
If someone has a slow moving digestive system what things can they do to to help with digestion, when havin a scope they still had food in stomach next?
Baby foods: Puréed foods, all obviously take very little to dies in the stomach before they pass through. No raw fruits and veggies. Eat everything canned and mushy. There are meds to help but you still have to floor this diet until your stomach wakes up!
What are some natural remedies for slow digestion? I have all the symptoms of slow digestion; bloating, stomachache, my stomach feels heavy even when I have only eaten a small portion of food, plus more. I researched home remedies and I read about eating
Many: Many people use aloe vera. Another natural remedy is papain, which is an enzyme that helps digest proteins. Also guar gum (sterculia) is a fiber that regulates the body’s absorption thus aiding in digestion. Lastly make sure you see your doctor for a complete work up and evaluation of your stomach complaints, there may be something more serious than digestion issues. All the best.
