Hello : Hello mother of a 17 year old. I find that it is sometimes hard for me to get my children to eat the foods that i prepare. I commend you that you make your son hot breakfasts in the morning- a lot of kids just get a box of cereal handed to them with milk. The one thing i didn't see listed was vegetables. The fiber, vitamins and enzymes from fresh vegetables is very important. The eggs and ham can contribute to cholesterol. Good=plant/fish fat: Good carbs are whole grains. Bad carbs are refined carbs ("white" sugar, bread, rice, and the darth vader evil high fructose corn syrup). Good fat comes from fish and plants (olive oil, avocado, nuts for example). Bad fat are saturated trans fat (fake fat) and animal fat like beef.
