Vegetarian diet?: I am not sure why she has low protein--from poor intake or disease process, so this should be evaluated by her doc. In term of diet--i assume she is a vegetarian? Beans, nuts, and coconuts, asparagus, kales, spinanaches are good sources of protein. Avocados are excellent as well. If she can eat eggs, eggwhite is very high protein as well. I believe it is wise to minimize sugars and simple starches, but i believe a diet with whole grains, vegetables, fruit and low-fat proteins is healthier than a strict low carb diet (which is relatively high in fat and protein). "really work" BUT...: I am not sure what you mean by "really work" but they will provide a source of vitamins & minerals. However, supplements are not a substitute for a healthy diet. Fruits have many beneficial phytonutrients not found in vitamin tablets. Vitamins do not contain any protein.
