Is it dangerous to take expired liquid amoxicillin?

Is it dangerous to take expired liquid amoxicillin?

Danger - no: It's not dangerous in that it is going to hurt you in any way. However, two questions to think about: why did you have some left over - you should finish what you are prescribed every time to avoid bacterial resistance. Number two: why are you taking expired antibiotics? If you have a new illness that you think needs medicine, you should gt an appropriate dose for an appropriate period of time. ...Read more

My 29lb daughter was given a dosage of 4ml twice a day of liquid amoxicillin (400mg/5ml). Does it correct? Not overdose ? Thank You.

Depends: The dosing for this med is based on both patient weight and what you are treating. For some respiratory or urinary infections the dosage of 50mg/kg/d would be expected. For an otitis media, 90mg/kg could be considered proper. Your dosage is at the lower end of normal for some issues and low for others. ...Read more

Can i give my 18 month old amoxicillin its my 6 year olds amox.Liquid

You : You should not give your child a prescription medication that is not theirs without consulting your child's doctor for a few reasons: - your 18 month old may not have an illness that can be adequately treated by amoxicillin - your 6 year old should take the entire Amoxicillin prescription for their infection unless the doctor told you to stop it. - Amoxicillin liquid expires after 10 days. - medication doses are weight based and it is not safe to give an 18 month old a 6 year old's dose. - if your 18 month old is sick, giving a few doses of antibiotic may not make them better, but can make any testing for illness such as strep testing unreliable. So if you think your 18 month old is sick and in need of an antibiotic, give his/her doctor a call. ...Read more
