Using plain vaseline will help eliminate the possibility of allergy.

What can cause extremely dry & chapped lips? I drink plenty of water & try different chapsticks. However, they still get very chapped. I work inside.

Too much?: The the most common mistake we make is keeping the lips wet with saliva; this makes dryness even worse. You have probably developed dryness related to the weather or office environment. Lip eczema treatable: Persistent chapped lips may be lip eczema, which can be treated like skin eczema, using Hydrocortisone cream, and Vaseline or Aquaphor to retain moisture. Sometimes, lipsticks or lip sunscreen chemicals are causing an allergic reaction on the lips. Other times, a person is a primary lip-licker (it's her habit). Once cracked, lips get irritated by routine foods and juices. A doctor can help out. ...Read more
