What kind of lip augmentation is done to create symmetry and even the texture of a burned lip scar?

What kind of lip augmentation is done to create symmetry and even the texture of a burned lip scar?

Possibilities: Without seeing your lip, this is a challenging question to answer. A scar older than one year may be improved with injection of a hyaluronic acid filler. A revision procedure may be needed to reorient the scar so it isn't causing a tethered effect of the skin and lip. If the scar is newer than one year, you should wait prior to having anything done. ...Read more

What is best for lip scar removal? Vitamin e or mederma? Anything else if possible?

Not much: Unfortunately, most scar treatments offer only marginal improvement over doing nothing at all. The biggest problem with the area around the lips is the amount of dynamic motion and tension that is created on the wound, which lends to a problematic scar. I find the biggest factor is the amount of surgical debridement of injured tissue affects the outcome of the scar. ...Read more

Me and girlfriend having exact symptoms almost at the exact same time. Weight loss. Pimple skin. Breast pain. Lips chapped. Scars heal very slow. Hiv?

Get tested: If you think you may have been exposed to HIV don't guess. Get tested. It is important to deal with this before it becomes advanced. There are many causes of the symptoms you described. If you both developed the same symptoms at the same time then the likely answer is an infection or chemical/toxin exposure. Your doctor can help you sort this out. Good luck to you both. ...Read more

Most effective approachess to get rid of scars (lips and wrist/arm)?

Improve, not remove: Scars are permanent. Having said that, there are ways to make them less noticeable. The first is time: scars mature over 6-18 months and don't assume their final form till then. Other methods are pressure, silicone sheeting, mederma, steroid injections or surgery. Surgery is a last resort for most scars, but many can be improved in this way if all else fails. ...Read more

I get cold sores and this last one I had left a bright red spot on my lip. Like a scar. The cold sore is healed though. Will this scar go away?

Yes, most likely: Most cold sores are pretty superficial and will leave a reddened area for a while which usually fades over months, not days. If the cold sore had a secondary infection or the scab was picked, it can injury the deeper layer of skin and cause it to scar. This generally doesn't happen ...Read more

How to prevent a scar on lip from turning white. The scar is 6 months old and is reddish, but turns white I apply pressure. My skin is brown.

White is normal: Putting pressue on any skin and then it being white initially is normal because you are pushing out the blood in the microscopic capillaries in the skin. Most scars take at least a year to "mature" and end up like they will look for ever. If you are african american there is a small risk you can develop a keloid which is a large scar. Rubbing it increases the risk. ...Read more

Mole on upper lip removal, will it scar?

Probably: When biopsies are performed, there is usually scarring unless the biopsy can be done in the form of a superficial shave, which is not always practical for a lip biopsy. Can an STD leave a long-term scar on lips? I kissed a woman w/ one on her btm lip. She seems to have the scar in her old photos. It bled upon kissing.

Not an STD: On one hand, a scar alone will not bleed. So it would seem your kissing partner had something else as well. No way to tell whether it was an injury or some sort of sore. However, no STD is a likely cause either of a scar or new sore. Oral herpes comes closest, but isn't considered an STD. Even if some STD caused the scar, by definition a scar is healed and connot transmit infection. ...Read more

I have a brown mole above my upper lip just off-centre. Plastic surgeon advised against removal as will scar & my lip will shrink on one side?

Maybe: The size of the mole will make a big difference in how the surgery is done. If the mole is flat it can sometimes
be removed with a laser without scarring. If it is elevated and excision would have to be done. Really good surgeons could remove it and move tissue or flap
to keep the lip looking normal. The treatment with a fraxel co2 laser could get rid of most of the scarring.
Expensive. ...Read more
