Don't be a sucker: "Exfoliation" is seldom of any value. STOP. Do not scrub or otherwise abuse your poor lips. Try to stop licking because saliva is very irritating to the outside surfaces. Try frequent lubrication. You can use frequent applications of vaseline or Aquaphor or a stick. You fail to name your "new lip balm". ...Read more

May resume: It is probably safe to resume but you may want to stay clear of any products containing petroleum or other toxic ingredients. Try a natural lip balm or a non allergenic product. See your DR: I suspect that you are compulsively licking your lips. There are techniques and meds to help you control this. There are a few diseases which cause dry mouth. Lips are generally very dry & chapped no matter how much lip balm I use. Often have attacks of angular cheilitis. Dr says nothing can be done about it?
